I believe therapy is about connection. Therapy is based on the connection with your therapist to create a meaningful, supportive space to explore your most vulnerable emotions. Therapy can help you strengthen your connection with the people in your life in a positive and hopeful way. And most of all, therapy can grow your connection to your most authentic self. Therapy can help guide and support you through times of stress, build communication and interpersonal skills, and develop a deep understanding of who you are and what you want out of life.

I have worked in hospital outpatient centers, community mental health, residential recovery centers, and in-home services with survivors of sexual assault and adults who struggle with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. I am interested in understanding one's emotional responses, interpersonal concerns, and patterns in relationships, identity development, and bettering the person's life as a whole. I believe that every person can grow into the best version of themselves through therapy. When we look inside and grow through what we’ve gone through, we can achieve our true potential.

I currently offer services to adults looking to explore their own interpersonal growth through a secure tele-health platform.
Everyone has the ability to thrive and reach their full potential, and it is through this process of discovery that makes me passionate about working with my clients. I provide support, empathy, and understanding in every session while we explore life's challenges that often make us feel "stuck." I believe that therapy is a journey of self-discovery of not only one's own underlying issues, but also of our own unique potential to strive for hope and resiliency. I work with all types of clients, but primarily "Type A" women who are familiar with the desire to control aspects in their lives. They long for deeper meaning in their careers. They want a true intimate partnership with a spouse/partner. They are tired of doing life alone. They are afraid time is running out and wonder if marriage and/or motherhood will be a possibility. They are seeking greater balance and peace within themselves, while at the same time, harnessing their innate power.

I am a therapist specializing in trauma and helping clients develop corrective emotional relationships and healthy attachments. I apply innovative techniques such as EMDR and somatic awareness for trauma, depression and anxiety. I draw from many treatments and I employ a diverse body of proven interventions to achieve treatment goals. At Pacifica Graduate Institute, I gained a creative depth psychology base while studying many cutting-edge modalities. By using dream work, psychodrama, sand tray, and sensorimotor therapies, I have enriched my practice beyond talk therapy as alternative methods to reach the unconscious.

Interpersonal Therapists

Is interpersonal therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found interpersonal therapy to be effective for life transitions including retirement, divorce, and job loss. Also, some studies have found it to be just as useful as medication and other therapy approaches. The benefits of interpersonal therapy can last long after treatment has been completed; the individual can use the tenets of this therapy throughout their life.

How long does interpersonal therapy take?

Interpersonal psychotherapy is normally time-limited and focuses on specific problems in the client’s everyday relationships. Treatment can be either one-on-one or take place in a group setting; it tends to last 12 to 16 weeks, depending on the individual client’s needs. If a new interpersonal problem arises in the future, the client may require additional therapy to address it specifically. The timeline and session schedule may vary depending on the client’s challenges as well as their progress. Treatment may conclude with wrap-up sessions to review the client’s accomplishments.

Is interpersonal therapy effective?

Research shows that interpersonal therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of conditions such as depression or anxiety. The approach may also offer a range of benefits that are hard to measure but valuable—including healthier relationships and improved feelings of self-worth. The therapist will give the client practical solutions that can be put into practice. The brief duration of this therapy also means that clients can see changes in their relationships fairly quickly.

What are the limitations of interpersonal therapy?

Interpersonal therapy may not effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as psychosis, chronic illness, or alcohol relapse. Because it is short-term in nature, it may not be the best approach for conditions that need to be tracked, though maintenance sessions are a viable approach under these circumstances.

Can interpersonal psychotherapy be done online?

Yes, interpersonal psychotherapy can be conducted effectively either in-person or online. A therapist with expertise in IPT will be able to adjust their techniques, such as role-playing, to better suit the online environment. Offering online IPT can make it more accessible for clients who have transportation difficulties; it also provides the ideal opportunity to explore challenges unique to digital relationships.
