Perhaps you have tried talk therapy before and it didn't feel productive or inspire you to change or reflect in new ways. Or perhaps you feel like you often don't have the words to describe how you feel, or aren't ready to verbally share about your challenges or difficult experiences. Individuals who can relate to these sentiments may greatly benefit from working with an Art Therapist. Through a combination of talk therapy and creative techniques I will support you in reflective and problem solving processes that will be different, productive and sometimes even playful.

I use an integrative approach, but my guiding psychological philosophy is from the cognitive-behavioral school.
My clients often have realized that they want something different in their lives but are unsure what they want or need to do to make a change. They are motivated and work with me to achieve something new. Their issues may be feeling stuck, unsatisfied, having difficulty managing their emotions, and maximizing their potential. They want to feel less depressed, stressed, anxious, or angry. Like most of us, these people want more meaningful relationships with their close friends, family members, and loved ones. I want clients who will let me know what works and does not work, and will be an active participant in therapy.

I am certified in Integrative Medicine and support the use of psychedelics based on research.
Sometimes on our journey we need an objective guide. I can help you manage problems involving "big feelings” that otherwise overwhelm. If your goal is to start getting new results for old recurring problems we can do that with compassion and curiosity. It is important to explore our personal history to understand why we think or behave the ways we currently do. While personal growth isn't always painless, you don't have to be alone in the process if you have a therapist who will commit to the process along side of you. I can help you gain new perspectives that will get you to solve problems effectively.

Have you been feeling worried, overwhelmed, or stuck lately? Do you tend to keep your struggles to yourself because no one really understands? Too often we isolate instead of reaching out when things get tough, but you don’t have to go through it alone. My approach is integrative and rooted in authenticity, trust, and empathy. I specialize in working with young adults who feel anxious, overwhelmed, have trouble managing their ADHD, are going through a life transition, or simply want a non-judgemental safe space to explore their feelings and better understand themselves.

I believe each individual has what it takes to overcome obstacles by accessing their inner wisdom and unique strengths. My approach to counseling is integrative, meaning I draw from several different types of therapy to fit what is best for the client's needs. I hold sessions from a non-hierarchical and non-judgmental position while simultaneously acknowledging the differences and limitations of working with diverse populations.

When you need help, where do you look? How do you determine which kind of therapy and which kind of therapist would suit you? These are important questions. There is no one-size-fits-all. The foundation of my work is mindfulness-based, meditation-based, strengths-based, and informed by the current neuroscientic research. If you find yourself facing a significant life transition, a death or loss, anxiety or depression; if you are struggling with past trauma, PTSD, or dissociation, or if you find yourself at a spiritual crossroads, or have a desire to deepen your relationship with yourself, this approach might help.

Integrative Therapists

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.

How does integrative therapy work?

Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.

How long does integrative therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

How effective is integrative therapy?

There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
