I have been working as a therapist for fifteen years. I have experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, managed treatment programs and provided supervision to other clinicians in the field. I have worked with individuals facing a variety of issues including substance dependency, depression, anxiety, chronic mental illness, family and marriage issues. My area of specialty includes working with women and men who suffer from depression, anxiety, PSTD as a result of a medical conditions such as cancer; children/ adolescents with depression and anxiety, emotional regulation and behavioral/conduct challenges, and ADHD.

I believe that everyone is capable of achieving goals that align with their values and what is important to them. Unfortunately we encounter many stressors in our day-to-day lives that pull us away from living a valued life. Things like stress relating to work, relationships, chronic pain/health conditions, past traumas, symptoms of mental health conditions, or any combination of these can act as barrier with living the life we want.

I strive to find solutions that are "Skills Over Pills" when starting therapy. I am passionate about helping teens and adults that are struggling to better themselves. It can be scary to feel that you are “behind others” life, but I can help you refocus on the positive aspects of yourself and what you are truly capable of. I have experience with LGBTQ+, anxiety, depression, life changes, and trauma. I have worked with individuals, groups, and in hospital settings. I also taught parenting classes and have experience with career counseling. All of my experience is focused on guiding others along their journey.

What we experience changes how we see the world and our place in it. Through the painful and difficult times, I come alongside you and help you navigate through, so you grow and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. I help you to identify specific triggers and process emotions while guiding you to learn new ways to achieve your goals. My purpose is to help you feel supported as we work together to identify and address the underlying causes of concern.

I provide therapy that is collaborative, understanding and humanistic, where I work together with patients to customize therapy so it is tailored to the patient's unique needs and goals. I work with people to address a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, traumatic stress, problematic substance use, shame, loss and grief, relationship difficulties, sexual and gender identity issues, job and academic stress, adjustment challenges to situations such as divorce, new parenthood, stepparenting, adoption and challenges managing and coping with serious health conditions such as infertility, autoimmune disease and cancer.

Dr. Ramirez has experience providing individual and group therapy to adolescents, young adults, and adults. She engages clients in therapy with enthusiasm, warmth, and compassion. Dr. Ramirez specializes in working with individuals who struggle with drug/behavioral addictions, bipolar disorder, depression, trauma, and psychosis. Further, she enjoys working with co-occurring disorders and acute mental health symptoms where she utilizes an empathic and strength-focused approach. Creating a safe space for her clients is her utmost priority, recognizing the challenges that are innate to those suffering with mental health disorders.

I truly believe everyone can benefit from therapy. When life gets tough, it forces us to look for ways to change and grow and it does not hurt to have some help as we do so. I believe a person grows best when given authenticity and encouraged to be as their authentic selves. Emotional disconnection from oneself can cause difficulty coping which often lead them to unhealthy coping skills in an attempt to relieve pain.
