My goal as therapist is to assist adult clients in connecting current stressors to past events. Therapy focuses on providing support-and sometimes challenge-as clients cope with experiences from daily stress to emotional challenges (anxiety, depression) to significant life events (death, divorce) in a safe, compassionate therapeutic relationship. I work with clients to identify the source, impact on current functioning and well-being, and develop insight- and behaviorally-based strategies for healthy sustainable coping. We work towards both managing symptoms and addressing the source, whether a single life event or an unfulfilling style of coping developed over several years across multiple relationships.

I believe that therapy extends beyond symptom relief; it entails gaining insight into one's self, patterns, and relationship dynamics. In other words, in order to "feel better," I think it is important to uncover how and why these symptoms developed over time. I aspire to help patients obtain this deeper understanding by fostering a sense of security and connectedness, which will allow me to act as a collaborative guide through this exploration. In therapy, I encourage patients to be active participants in their process so as to develop a sense of empowerment leading to relief from current symptoms as well as sustainable change.
