Pursuing help is not always an easy step to take. Friends are important, but certain things should be handled with a caring professional who will work to understand each person's situation. Whether your life is stressed, you've had a recent loss, your mood has sunk, or you feel unfulfilled, I believe that I could help you. A good therapist will listen empathically, help clients share, provide feedback, and talk with clients about solutions to life's challenges. I see both individuals and couples for counseling with a variety of issues and concerns and would be glad to meet with you. Be encouraged: even 1-2 degrees of change matters.

Obstacles in our lives can cause an overwhelming amount of stress and trigger emotions we never knew existed. You’ve probably experienced a loss of some sort whether it be a your past, death, job, or relationship. You don’t have to face it alone. Maybe you’re the person everyone turns to when life happens. Yet, when you’re in need it’s difficult to find a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear to vent. You’re trying to hold it all together as feelings of uncertainty consume you. Are you trying to find balance and achieve your goals as you journey through life, school, or your career? Maybe you're just wanting to be a better YOU...

I have experience working with a wide variety of populations, specializing in helping adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, grief, bipolar, ADHD, or substance use.
Have you ever looked at your reflection and wondered who you are? Do you ever feel lost or wonder where you are headed? Confession- I have. I realized later in life that my calling was to become a therapist. Long before returning to college, I received on-the-job training through my own experiences as a mother, wife, friend, and as an individual struggling with depression and anxiety. These experiences helped prepare me for my role as a therapist, along with losing my 34-year-old son in 2023. Just like my clients, I looked for a therapist to talk to, one who would listen and be able to understand where I was coming from.

Whether this means navigating grief from the loss of a loved one or loss of a relationship to managing anxiety or depression, my clients and I work together to create lives we enjoy waking up to.
Ever feel like there must be more to life? Or this isn't how you imagined your life would be? Maybe it's, I've done all of the things why am I not happier, less stressed, less anxious, feeling more accomplished. You are not alone. I have found that we are more alike than we think, capable of more than we try, and more courageous than we know. We just have to get through the noise in our head.

I have worked with children, teens, and adults with a variety of problems like families involved with CPS, parenting skills, mental illness, addiction treatment for individuals & their families, unemployed individuals (career counseling), depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, anger issues, bullying, marital problems, self-injury, abuse, grief, & many more.
There is not a specific type of therapeutic style or approach that works for everyone: age, ethnicity, all of this may play a part into stressors and how we cope with them. Therefore, the services are built around the individuals or family needs, focusing on strengths and values. I believe there is nothing we can’t overcome and the first step is seeking the help. Therapy is about acquiring the tools we need when faced with adversity. If you’re reading this, then you’re already on your way to change. Life is full of challenges, struggles, and stressful situations. WE have all been there before.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
