My approach is person-centered and my specialty is
grief
,
loss
, and trauma.
My primary goal as a therapist is to provide my clients with the tools to live productive lives. We all have a story to tell and a journey to take. The vital component of everyone’s journey is the paths they take and identifying their catalyst to achieve change. The driving force in my career path is the desire to reach members of society that have a misconception regarding counseling and increase their knowledge of the therapeutic process. Also, providing individuals with a voice and the courage to use it. Letting your voice be a positive reflection of who you are can trigger change.

As humans we are greatly impacted by the vast range of feelings and emotions that accompany life events such as joy, anger, sadness, fear, and disgust. We also all share in the experience of suffering, pain, confusion, and
loss
. However, just as we are inflicted with deep pain, so are we capable of change, growth, and finding satisfaction. It is my desire to provide a warm and safe space for you to share your experiences, pain, and questions, knowing that they are being held with care, respect, honor, and gentleness. It is crucial to me that you feel comfortable, seen, known, and heard and your well-being will always be prioritized.

grief
and
loss
, stress reduction, behavioral problems, sexual trauma, ADHD, and relational issues.
I am a bicultural and bilingual clinician who is passionate about serving people in different developmental stages who need guidance and support to find answers for their current struggles. I believe psychotherapy can help to unlock people’s full potential and I consider safety, acceptance, and compassion as the key elements within a therapeutic relationship for healing and change to occur. I also believe that healing occurs when people have reached a deeper understanding of how past and recent experiences have influenced their lives.

I approach therapy with the ideology that life is a culmination of interconnected parts. Feelings stem from experiences, experiences influence perceptions, and subsequently guide many of the decisions one makes in life. When individuals experience stagnation or challenges, it may be connected to an array of life experiences. This may lead to a challenge with seeing beyond that which is. The subsequent result may serve as a breeding ground for emotional and physical pain, challenges in interpersonal relationships and unresolved
grief
.

I'm experienced in working with:
grief
/
loss
, spirituality, premarital/marital, parenting, children/adolescence, coping skills, infertility issues, depression, and stress/anxiety, as well as discernment counseling.
Sometimes we can get thrown into changes we weren't ready for. Maybe the change is welcomed. Regardless of whether these changes are expected or unexpected, I am confident that together, we can embrace these changes in the midst of joy or
grief
& become our own resources as we learn new ways to approach the issue or the situation. This is the heart of my therapeutic approach. I believe individuals, couples, & families have the ability to change. I am ready to walk with you on your journey & look forward to discovering ways which strengthen your approach to life's changes.

As a clinician and published researcher, my specialization is helping people adjust to stressors resulting from anxiety, PTSD, depression, and traumatic
loss
.
Life Pushes, and when it does, it can feel as though your world has tilted on its axis. Stress brings with it storms: emotional, physical, relational, financial, spiritual, including storms unique to caring for aging parents. When these storms come, it helps to have someone to trust with your story; someone to hold the "flashlight" figuratively speaking, in order to help you identify your life values, navigate your personal goals, and develop tools so your energy is spent living your life instead of existing. It is my desire to help you develop ways to exchange your current stress for strength.

My clients often come to counseling feeling broken and lost from
grief
and unresolved trauma, struggling with anxiety, fear and depression. Past experiences may have led them to believe they are only their brokenness, clouding any other awareness of who they are or what their life holds. I offer a safe, supportive environment to begin to explore those experiences and discover strength, healing, and resilience.

I help women experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression,
grief
, family of origin concerns, and self-esteem issues.
You’re going about your life doing ‘all the things’ and wondering, “Am I missing something? Why am I feeling so hopeless and why is life so painful sometimes? Do I really matter to my friends and family?” You desire deep connection and belonging but often feel like you’re on the outside and wish your life had more meaning. Life is filled with unexpected, often painful, experiences that can leave you feeling a deep sense of brokenness, along with feeling confused, anxious, and even depressed. There is no textbook for dealing with everything you have on your plate, but you’re longing for a solution to the emptiness inside.

I enjoy helping people find practical holistic solutions to what they are facing through education in areas such as depression, anxiety, trauma/
grief
, relationships, career development, and health/nutrition.
Our lives are not like compartments. Each area impacts others whether that is relationships, work, or health. My passion is bringing a holistic mind, body perspective so that you experience clarity, confidence, completeness, and peace through healthy actions and thoughts. We work together to identify needs, take action, enjoy each moment, and develop the life you desire. I also advise and consult within workplaces because we often bring work home, and take home to work. Workplaces struggle with breakdowns in productivity, work relationships, cultivating inclusion, and overall satisfaction.

Life problems, depression, anxiety,
grief
, and anger are just some of the issues that adults face every day. In my practice, clients are valued, respected, and included as partners in their treatment and recovery. Together, we explore your issues and build a plan with measurable objectives that guide us as we work to heal identified hurts, clear confusing thoughts and decrease stress. When clients are motivated to make changes in their lives, we can work together to build new habits and ways of thinking that lead to recovery and peace. Some clients request testing to better understand their personality and issues and I offer that.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
