"In addition to traditional psychotherapy, I use EMDR therapy, which uses visualization and mental stimulation to help an individual remove the many problems and anxieties they face in daily life, including fear, anger-management, depression, low self-esteem, difficult relationships, trauma, loss of a job or loved one, and PTSD. I utilize several other well-proven and effective mind-body techniques, tailored to each person's individual needs, in addition to traditional psychotherapy."

Do you wake every morning with an overwhelming sense of anxiety or depression, but desire greater peace and freedom in your life? Are you struggling to overcome negative thoughts and emotions regarding a traumatic event? No one wants to live day to day in emotional pain. Some people do not express their pain because they do not want to make others aware of their struggle. Others may be open to sharing their struggle but are still unsure of how to make the pain go away. Maybe you're a professional woman who desires better work/life balance or would like to focus your goals.

Life's challenges-whether they seem too huge to handle or too small to be causing so much trouble-can cause anxiety drag us into depression, make us irritable and impatient, or even angry. Counseling is a safe, supportive place where we can work on developing coping skills, identifying ways to improve your life, and making changes that will help you achieve personal goals and reach your potential. In addition, I work with college students and adults with ADHD to manage symptoms and their many challenges by focusing on coping skills for focus, organization, and impulsivity.

Do you sense that something in your life needs to change, but you don't know where to start? When stressors or challenges arise, we can lose touch with our identity, values and instinctive resourcefulness. The best part of being a clinician for me, is supporting clients to discover their own strengths and skills. In sessions, I work to understand your story in depth and empower you to build self-compassion. Collaboratively, we will identify both helpful and unhelpful patterns. I provide support with your needs and priorities being the central focus. Are you wondering if therapy can make a meaningful difference in your life?.

During the human experience, we will have struggles along the way. There are times we don't understand our own actions. We decide to take one approach to solve our problems and find ourselves doing something opposite of what we intended on doing. It is in those moments that we ask ourselves "How did I get here?" As a social worker, I partner with clients to unlock their solutions. Through Individual, group, family or opposite sex couples counseling, we will move towards the life you desire and discover the many different ways to get there.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
