I offer an anti-racist, LGBTQ affirmative space to grow, and use behavioral techniques to empower you with new skills.
Every human struggles, and every human deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported while finding their way to a healthy flow. Are you feeling disconnected? Your mental health may seem hard for others to understand, or even for you to understand. Maybe it feels overwhelming to question why you feel this way, or what's actually in your control to change. Maybe the things that get you through aren’t the healthiest for you, and you’re ready to try something different. I'm here to accompany and guide you, whether navigating life transitions, addiction, relationship issues, or managing depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, Bipolar, or ADHD.

I’m passionate about helping people find freedom from debilitating pain and anxiety. As a recovering attorney and mom of two boys, I know what it’s like to feel stuck in a career you don’t love and to feel guilty that you can’t show up as your best self for your family and kids. My ‘stuckness’ left me feeling physically and emotionally drained. I developed chronic pain, insomnia and was riddled with anxiety.

Nothing is as isolating as having transitions and changes happen in your life, and not be sure how to process them or have someone with whom to process them.
There is really no issue to big or too small to bring to therapy. I have seen people go through so much positive change because of their work in therapy and think it is such an awesome process. Just because we can go through life in survival mode and bouncing off our ups and downs, does not mean we should. I love to talk about everything therapy, so I encourage people to reach out.

Licensed in CA, FL, MI and DE. Psychotherapy is a journey of discovery. It is a walk toward the self. The purpose of psychotherapy is to assist the patient with knowing the Self: their intrinsic goodness, wisdom and strength found within. For patients, this requires a setting aside of assumptions about the self and others in order for curiosity to emerge. In psychotherapy, we explore what brings meaning to life and what creates value. We ask, “Do my actions bring me closer to the person I want to be?” As I assist the patient with shoring up coping skills we also explore the wondrous road back to the Self.

Some of the core issues I help people overcome are complex trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and life transitions.
What you seek is also seeking you" - Rumi In a world that seems to be ever more divided, unsafe, and chaotic, it can sometimes feel hard to believe that the peace and fulfillment you want can be found. And yet you are worthy of it. We have the right and power to alchemize suffering into strength, joy, wisdom, and peace. Let therapy unlock the wisdom your heart holds for finding the sense of self, relationships, and life you long for. The world is waiting for you. "Because you are alive, everything is possible." -Thich Nhat Hanh

At Lifespan, I treat anxiety, depression, addiction and co-occurring disorders, relationship problems, stress-related symptoms, women's health issues, and adolescence issues. In session we take the time to let your soul catch up with you—so you can share what's on your mind, organize your thoughts, and listen to yourself. This is a gift you give yourself, stepping out of the demanding pace of our culture to turn inward. The ultimate goal is to access your “inner therapist” so that you can rely upon yourself and your own strengths. Change is possible!

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
