Hello and welcome! I have experience working with trauma, PTSD, domestic violence victims, chronic pain/health issues, depression, anxiety, death, grief and loss. I like to begin by getting to know my client and their specific needs so that we can work together to identify the goals for therapy and devise a plan of action for treatment. I take an integrative person-centered approach to therapy with my clients. My clients tell me I am a compassionate, non-judgmental therapist. I work with clients from all walks of life. I have experience working with LGBT Center, Safe Shelter, cancer patients/survivors, and veterans.

I am a Masters level Professional Counselor pursuing licensure (LCSW). I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Psychotherapy. I also offer Professional Life Coaching and am a Certified Professional Life Coach (CPLC). Katie Austin is an LMSW graduate from the University of Southern California. She specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety, alcohol and substance abuse, and personality disorders. She has experience working with young adults through elder adults from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, she has extensive life experiences as a military spouse and volunteer, which led her to earn a Masters of Social Work. She embraces the concept of meeting an individual where they are by using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients reach their goals.

I have a 2-pronged approach. I first work with my clients in identifying sufficient calming and coping mechanisms to deal with the here and the now. The next step is to map out the core issues that are causing the presenting concerns, and create a plan in healing them from the source. I have treated many clients who have been in therapy for years without actually tackling the root of the problem.

Anxiety and depression are the most common issues bringing clients to therapy, followed by relationship issues. Relationships, in the past or present, are often at the core of how we see ourselves and the world. Healing negative messages from childhood will often help release current depression and anxiety, or at least improve it. I have a special focus of couples counseling. It is so difficult to find yourself at odds with the person you once felt so safe and at peace with. Let me help you find that secure place again.

Youla Overbey is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in three States: Georgia, Louisiana and Michigan. She started her career in 2009 working in various social services agencies, community mental health clinics, and school settings. Her experience includes working with battered women, at-risk youth, families in crisis, and indigenous people.

I enjoy working with all clients, from infants to seniors. We help people to define and achieve their personal goals. We provide assessment and counseling, offering referrals for additional services as needed. We usually work on relationship issues, both with others and with ourselves. We help define a contract with clients, including their strengths and challenges, to pinpoint the changes they would like to make. Clients have resolved marriage, divorce, custody, parenting issues, vocational and personal problems including acute and chronic depression and anxiety, and addictions. We also have had success helping people overcome various personality and social engagement issues.

My love of counseling stems from an intense desire to act as a catalyst in the process of helping clients achieve their goals. I believe that the counseling relationship is unique in that the counselor is only as successful as the client. The symbiotic relationship between counselor and client should be made up of trust, acceptance, respect, and a desire to mutually work hard to create a more fulfilling life.
