My name is Carey Schmidt, and I am an Associate Professional Counselor at Broad Oaks Counseling. I enjoy working with mostly children and adolescents, although I accept adults as well, who may be feeling anxious, depressed, or simply going through a tough time. I view counseling as a partnership where both the client and counselor work together to achieve the goals that the client sets for themselves, and I am always excited and try my best to help those goals come to fruition.

Deciding to begin therapy is a very personal decision, and it is typically not an easy one. It is my prayer that I or one of our additional clinicians can be of service to you with navigating any current circumstances, or dealing with the past, while developing a model of personal growth, working collaboratively with you.

I provide individual therapy to adults (ages 20+) and specialize in helping clients heal from the impact of trauma and chronic stress. Taking the step to begin therapy can create mixed feelings for some. I will meet you where you are, realizing that you have a unique story, which you’re free to share at your own pace. Just a brief history about me: my experience in psychotherapy/counseling began over 20 years ago and has included various populations who have shared stories of rejection, abandonment, and spiritual and emotional brokenness.
