I am a firm believer that life should be enjoyable, and every one of us has the potential to improve ourselves. I use a client-centered approach along with therapeutic techniques to help you develop the inner strength to surpass the difficulties that life has thrown your way.

I am an autistic, bisexual former foster child, who also happens to be knowledgeable about faith, spirituality, and the pervasive impact of trauma. My name is Timothy Shea MA LPC. I have been a fully Licensed Professional Counselor for 14 years, plus 3 years of being an Associate Professional Counselor. My interest in pursuing a career in the field of mental health developed out of a sense that I wanted to provide service to others in a way that fostered a sense of meaning and growth in their lives. I take pride in my ability to empathize with the consumers that I work with and to help them move forward in life and awaken their own unique potential. I enjoy working with people who struggle with problematic sexual behavior (sexual addiction), partners who have been through betrayal trauma, couples in recovery, and general marriage counseling. Intimacy development in relationships is also one of my passions.

Brainspotting is a powerful, flexible, client-centered therapy that goes more deeply and quickly into our stored memories than other therapies. These stored memories are called brain spots. We change the negative ones. After looking for the most effective counseling technique which was also cost efficient for clients, I chose Brainspotting. Brainspotting is based on EMDR but I find BS is best for pinpointing the individual harmful memories which negatively interfere with our lives. The Brainspotting process enables the client to identify and resolve the roots of traumatic or troubling issues.

Sometimes anxiety, depression or low self-esteem issues can come on slowly or, at times, quickly overwhelm us. No matter how these issues happen it helps to have someone to listen to and support you through those times. My goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for my clients where they can slow down and start to take apart those issues piece by piece so they can be better understood and dealt with. I use many different counseling styles but, ultimately, I want my clients to feel like they are just having a conversation about the struggles in their lives.

I am only offering testing and evaluation services at this time. I have been licensed as a clinical psychologist in Georgia since 2013, and I specialize in psychological testing to help clarify mental health diagnoses and offer guidance for treatment. I also conduct psychoeducational testing to assess academic skills, potential learning disorders, and other conditions that impact learning, and I offer specific and empirically supported recommendations to help individuals meet their full cognitive and academic potential. Some evaluations can be completed via telehealth, depending on the needs.
