Does the shadow of the past still influence how you show up in the world? Maybe you feel weak or crazy because you “can’t get over it”. Your friends and family don’t get it. There are times when things feel okay and life is pretty good but, then not so much. Maybe you find yourself feeling more on edge, are more reactive and emotional, or maybe you just feel not yourself? Your relationships are suffering. You know you are capable of more; personally, professionally, creatively, spiritually. Perhaps you have done therapy before and have some insight but your patterns haven't changed. You don't FEEL different but you'd like to.

I have worked in the creative arts in the past which gives me an ability to observe and connect with clients regardless of their differences. I love helping others and it is a true passion of mine. Because I have worked with most cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds including LBGT, Adolescents and those working in the creative arts, I gear the treatments to the individual and encourage clients to take control of their treatme I have worked with individuals struggling with most diagnoses and coping with life itself, I can connect to the specific needs of each client as well as the style of therapy best fitting those needs.

When it comes to relationships, love, sexuality, transitions, and identity struggles in life I’m your girl! I’m the type of therapist who is fun, outgoing, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and a proud Air Force Veteran. Let’s just say when it comes to intersectionality… I have a lot of them. However, this is a good thing because my life experiences are exactly what will connect us and lead you to the life that you want to live. Therapy with me is a safe and inclusive space for all!

You feel like you're not a good enough mother, but you're afraid to admit it to anyone so you're feeling more alone than you ever imagined. It wasn't supposed to be like this. How are other people doing it? You're feeling so overwhelmed you can't think straight, and can hardly handle what used to feel like the simplest of tasks... You're wondering if you'll ever get your old life back, if you'll ever be able to go through the day without crying or lashing out at the people you love most. I get it, and I can help.

It takes courage to navigate this journey we call life. Courage to accept, to let go, to ask for help, to grow, courage to do whatever it is that keeps you from living the life you want to live. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them learn from experiences, increase their ability to cope with the demands of life, & ultimately to grow and live more courageously. My approach is culturally sensitive & integrative incorporating elements of multicultural, cognitive-behavioral, and interpersonal theory.

Life as you know it has changed. You were barely holding on before, and now you're struggling to adjust to life's new normal. Anxiety and/or depression may not be new to you but dealing with medical and racial pandemics simultaneously just feels like too much. Connecting with your partner seems harder now than ever before, even though you are spending more time together. All of your regular coping skills and self-care tools just don't seem to be doing the job and you are looking for relief. Believe me, I get what you're going through.

I specialize in evidence-based treatments (EBTs) for patients with OCD and trauma related disorders. These treatments are generally more effective and efficient than traditional talk therapy because they directly target symptoms and provide specific exercises aimed at breaking behavioral patterns that maintain symptoms. Traditional psychotherapy emphasizes gaining insight. Insight does not necessarily lead to symptom reduction. I focus on changing behavior because only by changing what you do will you be able to change how you feel.

A note to my clients who identify as Black, Brown, Indigenous, Asian, LBGTQ+. I am Anti Racist and an ally. Working together I hear and respect your story, I know you are Personally impacted by systemic racism and discrimination. The minute you pick up that phone or send an email requesting an appointment there is courage realized. Sometimes our world shrinks when we are feeling sad or hurt and it takes courage to break through. It is my sincere belief that we are full of endless possibilities. I also know that reaching out for a guide to help become unstuck is the first step to freeing those possibilities.

I view counseling as a partnership between the therapist and the client. My goal is to first work with clients to support them in identifying obstacles in their lives that are keeping them "stuck" or blocking them from experiencing the life they want. These obstacles may be negative thought patterns, maladaptive behaviors, or belief systems that eat away at their sense of self-worth. We then work together to develop new paths over, around, or straight though these blocks.

I work primarily with LGBTQ+ people who have experienced trauma and are looking to improve their lives. This might be wanting to feel less anxious or depressed, have healthier relationships, have a deeper knowledge of yourself, or something else. Trauma can look very different for different people, and in a White supremacist, heteronormative, and transphobic world, queer and gender diverse people often experience trauma in unique ways. I use a trauma-informed approach to help queer and trans clients navigate their mental health, identity development, and relationships.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Registered Play Therapist (RPT). I am skilled at working with the most challenging of children, ages 3 - 12. Their needs vary from trauma, anxiety, anger outbursts, adjustment problems, to grief/loss. Play Therapy is a researched approach that allows your child to take the lead in the session, while the therapist follows and interprets his/her play. Their self-paced process allows your child to work through issues without fear or trepidation. When he/she is ready to reconnect, the process is complete.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
