Mi carrera como psicóloga comenzó hace mas de 20 años, primero como estudiante en la Universidad de La Habana, Cuba, luego en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, ​​España y finalmente en Atlanta, Georgia, donde completé mis prácticas y estudios posdoctorales en la Universidad de Emory. Durante todos estos años he tenido la oportunidad de trabajar con mis clientes desde una perspectiva amplia y profunda, esforzándome siempre en ver al ser humano en el contexto no solamente de sus relaciones inmediatas sino en relación con su experiencia cultural y todo el medio que les rodea.

I enjoy working with adult individuals, couples, and groups. I have worked extensively with survivors of trauma and those suffering from PTSD. I also especially welcome those who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, LGBTQ concerns, stress management, grief and loss, infertility, or career decisions.

I work alongside people that are seeking guidance and understanding on managing anxiety, depressed moods, negative thoughts, uncertainty, alcohol & drug use, or any other uncomfortable state of mind. Some people are interested in exploring their past and identifying how it affects them in their current life, others just want an objective person to speak to and process their thoughts with. There's no one specific reason for seeking out a therapist/counselor and nothing has to be "wrong" in order to do so.

Hi there! I'm Edlíz and I love to work with young adults who are experiencing life transitions, anxiety, depression or other mental health illness, and self-esteem/interpersonal struggles. My goal is to create a solid therapeutic alliance and create opportunities in navigating these issues for self-understanding and validation because, let's be honest, adulting can be pretty hard sometimes. The structure I provide in therapy includes helping clients build skills to manage mental wellness and prevent distress in the future. I am an Anxiety, OCD and Trauma specialist. When clients come to work with me they are often struggling with fear of the unknown, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, behavioral and mental compulsions, negative intrusive thoughts and other such patterns that are taking them deeper into the fear spiral. In therapy, I support my clients in developing a kinder relationship with themselves while becoming more conscious of the negative coping patterns that are holding them in cycles of pain. We work on shifting this while also developing the positive coping skills needed to move towards a healthier, freer and more joyful life.
