I enjoy working with both couples and individuals. Couples therapy can consist of troubles with communication, sex therapy concerns such as education, dysfunctions, lack of desire/interest, pain in sexual activity, medication side effects, and anxiety/depression related to sexual issues, post-affair recovery, and relationship conflict across the lifespan. I also work with those struggling with depression, anxiety, relational problems, including family systems. Starting this journey can feel awkward at first, but I am here to provide a safe environment for you to process and address a variety of your concerns.

My potential clients are aware they need counseling or have reached a point where they cannot manage their life effectively. While they are in charge of what they do with their lives they may feel unable to navigate it. They need support, education, empathy, tools, and insight to help them with better decision making and the ability to navigate their path. They want a therapist that is genuine and can offer multiple perspectives, insights, and empathy while helping them work through what their current struggle is. Therapy is a safe place to work through all thoughts, feelings and concerns without judgement.

You’ve been telling yourself “Girl, Get It Together!” as you try to maintain the perception that everything is fine. But the truth is, you feel broken inside. Your biggest worry is that you’ll be found out. That people will see that it is just a facade and you really aren’t as put together as they think. You’re falling apart. But if you’re not the strong one, who will be? You’ve been wearing this mask for so long that you don’t believe there's another way. You know that the society we live in will not allow you to just fall apart. You don’t want to be labeled as the angry black woman so you’re doing all you can to keep it together.

Taking new clients/waitlist. We all desire to have a voice, to be seen & to have a purpose. True healing comes when mind, body & spirit are well/whole. I know the psychological trauma caused by religious or church maltreatment. I know the pain cycle of love+chaos in narcissistic relationships. I've experienced divorce, remarriage, single-parenting struggles, and poverty, and learned how to rebuild a family. I know the challenges of aging parents. There is no shame in asking someone to walk alongside you no matter your struggles.

Evening Appts Available. Welcome! Starting therapy is a big step that takes courage. These are uncertain times and right now everyone could use support and a safe place. I have over 10 years of experience working with people who are dealing with trauma, anxiety, sadness, life changes & relationship stress. We are all complex & often what feels like it should be a “simple fix” can be frustratingly difficult to change, especially in these stressful times. In therapy, you can get to know yourself more fully and understand what is getting in the way of how you want to be living so that you can live a more congruent and peaceful life.

Seeking a therapist is the hardest part of your mental health journey. You should take pride in taking this first step! It can be difficult to open up to someone new but can lead to some much-needed mental and emotional relief. We are not created to go through life keeping things inside and going about our days as if everything is 100% okay. I hope to help you find emotional healing!

How can I find a therapist in Cobb County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
