My mission through counseling is to foster hope to aid in inspiring change. I believe in the innate resilience of people to rise above their struggles. Sometimes we all need a little help to get there. I utilize a strengths-based approach to therapy, focused on resilience, empowerment, and building on a person’s current skill set. I am focused on meeting the client where they are to help them achieve where they want to be. Through compassion, challenging, and humor, I support my teen and adult clients in developing a growth mindset to reach their goals.

Life, at times, can feel heavy and you don’t need to carry the burden of your struggles or experiences alone. It can be challenging to find a space to open up about all the different areas of your life that make you who you are, past and present, and your hope for the future. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, symptoms of trauma, 1st gen family or cultural conflicts, coping with life transitions, relationship issues, identifying & setting healthy boundaries, or the myriad challenges that can arise, I am here to support you in finding your peace.

Hi there! I'm so happy you are here. Adulting is hard, full of uphill climbs and plot twists. As we take on the many challenges of daily life, moments of true joy can seem elusive. We may find ourselves feeling less content or fulfilled than we imagined. We begin to question past choices and doubt our decisions. We trudge along, hoping things will improve, without really enjoying the now. At all stages of life, we face challenges and transitions that may leave us feeling sad, anxious, exhausted, disillusioned, or isolated. And while this is normal, it can be hard to find a way through on your own. Fortunately, you don't have to.

I specialize in helping women in their 20’s and 30’s work through anxiety, ADHD, people-pleasing, perfectionism and burnout. Do you feel burned out and exhausted by "going through the motions" of everyday life? Are you often overwhelmed, stressed, and feeling like there must be a way to make it all easier? I know how it feels to be stuck in a cycle of behaviors that seem too hard to change. It can also be so hard when everyone else's priorities seem to cloud what you actually want. Together, we will discover and honor your emotions, figure out what matters most to you, and head in that direction.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
