My training is primarily within psychodynamic therapy, but I draw heavily from the feminist, humanistic, and interpersonal traditions.
Warmth, genuine connection, and empathy define my approach to therapy. I believe deeply in the power of every person's life story as a tool to educate, heal, and connect with others. I am committed to providing therapeutic care that promotes introspective growth and engenders self acceptance. I work from a psychodynamic perspective, focusing upon maladaptive patterns of thought and behavior and encouraging insight to understand the root of such patterns. Above all, I hope to help patients feel safe and understood in a non-judgmental environment.

I approach therapy from anti-oppressive, emo-decolonial, feminist, relational-cultural, and internal family systems lenses (can share more about what this means in a free consultation).
Emotional distress is too often pathologized when it's a reasonable response to the oppressive systems in which we live. Instead of trying to "fix" you or help you not feel any difficult emotions, I believe all feelings hold information, and we have the power to discover what that information is and choose what to do with it. I would aim to support you by helping you name and feel difficult feelings with more ease and less overwhelm, treat all parts of you with curiosity and compassion, and determine what your emotions are trying to tell you so you can feel more connected to yourself and have more access to agency, relief, + clarity

I draw from IFS, narrative, multicultural, feminist, & relational perspectives, which considers people in relation to their individual, cultural, political, & societal contexts.
I believe therapy is a space of growth, empowerment, self-understanding, self-compassion, and catharsis in a world that makes it all too hard, especially for marginalized populations; sexual and gender minorities, folx of color, etc; communities who need and deserve such spaces because of the impact of systemic discrimination but have had the least access to it. I believe that choosing to engage in a therapy is a brave act & honor that in my approach. Through lived & professional experience as a queer South Asian acearo person, I am especially interested in identity-exploration & working with folx of color identifying as ace/aro

I customize my approach, working from a psychodynamic and multicultural- feminist framework to deepen self-understanding while incorporating CBT and DBT to help alleviate symptoms.
I work with individuals and couples struggling with life transitions, overwhelming emotions, and feeling stuck with where they are. My clients often find themselves disconnected from others due to fear that they won’t be understood. Some have dealt with years of anxiety, depression, and trauma, making it difficult to imagine feeling better. Whatever you are going through, you don’t have to do it alone. Our work can help with finding your way through challenging times with greater appreciation of your own innate strength and a newfound perspective of what it means to create a life that is fulfilling and worth living.

You feel sad, depressed, anxious. You’re lonely and feel like no one understands you. You’ve noticed tension and tightness in your body. Making decisions and changes in your life are a struggle. The thought that you’re not good enough swirls around in your mind. You're frustrated and you’re not sure what to do. You feel stuck and you don’t want to feel like this anymore.

I've worked with trauma and injustice for many years, and I recognize the courage it takes to trust another person with the most vulnerable parts of yourself. My primary modalities are EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS). In my office, I strive to provide a therapeutic space where all parts feel welcome, where you can experience something radically different and practice new and courageous ways of relating to yourself and to others. I've successfully helped teenagers, adults and couples experience healing from trauma and unresolved events, peace from anxiety and acceptance in times of grief.

I know it can be difficult to make the informed decision to start therapy. The idea of unpacking our thoughts, feelings, behaviors and emotions can feel overwhelming and intimidating. Your bravery toward facing your personal hardships and improving your overall quality of life is the first of many victories that you will experience in our time together. Whether you are suffering with anxiety and depression, undergoing life transitions, struggling with self-esteem, facing relationship issue or looking to understand your past to make sense of your present.

Stress, anxiety and traumatic experiences block us from living more freely and joyfully. If you're struggling to feel better, I'm glad you're here. I can help you suffer less and rewire some of your old thoughts, feelings and relationship patterns so you can feel more fully yourself. Patterns have their purpose but when we slow down and get curious about them, they can transform themselves. I use a mind-body approach with a relational lens. I create a safe space for you to explore your world more deeply. If you feel stuck after years of talk therapy, I can help. I see children, adolescents, adults, couples & families virtually.

I believe that the foundation of effective therapy is the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client. Without that, there is no way for trust to be built and no progress to be made. I specialize in treating adults who are struggling with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, addiction, and those experiencing infertility. I work with individuals and run groups. I am a Certified Group Psychotherapist, facilitating a number of groups. I know that change is not easy. I am dedicated to helping my clients create the life they've always wanted, and living it to their full potential.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
