My approach to therapy is primarily Cognitive Behavioral. Strong evidence supports the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for helping individuals with a wide range of problems, including Depression, Anxiety and ADHD. I also incorporate the use of other therapeutic approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment, Relational, Interpersonal and Psychodynamic Therapy. My initial goal is to create a safe therapeutic environment. I work with clients to reach an agreement on the goals. As therapy proceeds, we will evaluate progress toward those goals and work together to make therapy as effective for you as possible.

Life can feel overwhelming. You do not need to navigate these challenges alone. When we feel lost or overwhelmed it can create a sense of disconnect from ourselves and those around us. The life of your dreams is possible, and your decision to seek help is an incredibly powerful one. My specialities include helping individuals who are struggling with trauma, addictions, anxiety, and depression.

I love to work with people who are wanting to improve the quality of their lives in such areas as personal growth, relationships, self-esteem, stress management, life and career path, authentic expression, women's health, addiction recovery, and understanding family dynamics.
The therapy process can help you to develop a deeper connection to your true feelings, more authentic communication, healthier and more satisfying relationships, a clearer path through life, and a sense of being more "yourself". I take an eclectic approach, using talk therapy, dreamwork/play, creative expression, insight into family relationships, and exploring beliefs developed in childhood and the ways that they influence your current patterns and choices.

Life can be daunting, overwhelming and sometimes difficult to cope with. Sometimes, it can feel like we're just existing rather than loving the life we live. Maybe you've had past experiences that have led to substance use, anxiety, depression, grief, shame or feelings of loneliness. Maybe you've struggled to see a way out, or feel constantly reminded of a history you'd like to forget. Maybe you've tried to heal but keep finding yourself in the same patterns, same feelings, same thoughts. Or maybe you haven't known where to even start. You're not alone in any of this, and you don't have to begin your journey to healing alone.

Battling anxiety, depression, and overwhelming stress alone can lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation. Your inner dialogue can become increasingly negative, and you may find yourself stuck in a seemingly unbreakable pattern of unhelpful thoughts. If you are seeking guidance during life's challenging moments, need support in managing work/life balance or are facing a life transition, therapy services may benefit you.

I'm accepting new clients, especially telehealth clients, Sunday through Tuesday. I have some limited in-person availability on Wednesdays in Broomfield. It's so important to have someone to talk to - unfortunately we don't always have that opportunity. As a therapist, I strive to have my clients feel like they can be seen and heard in a comfortable and confidential setting. I use strengths-based, person-centered techniques to help my clients work towards self-awareness and personal growth. I prioritize self-compassion skills - the art of giving ourselves the same understanding and empathy that we give to others.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
