Are you tired of feeling like life will never get better? That you’ll always be impacted by memories from your past? That the anxiety, depression, self-doubt, guilt, relationship problems, or physical pain will never go away? Feel like you should be able to “just get over it”? You’ve come to the right place—there is hope! Did you know trauma comes in all forms and can impact people very differently? Complex trauma can develop due to multiple distressing events that typically happen over a period of time. Or trauma can be a single event such as a car accident, animal bite, complicated surgery, or traumatic birthing experience.

Welcome, we all get stuck sometimes and the last thing we need is judgment and lack of compassion! I get it! My therapeutic person-centered approach is based on the belief that everyone is inherently good and deserves to be heard. I strive to make individuals feel valued and validated. I use this approach along with different treatment methods to help heal the whole person. I am a Catholic-Christian counselor; yet allow the client to determine how much, if any, faith to incorporate in sessions without projecting my own beliefs onto others.

Inevitably, we all encounter periods in our lives in which what we've learned to that point isn't sufficient for the challenges we now face. I believe therapy can be a safe, supportive environment in which to better understand ourselves and the world and to revisit what we want in life and how to get there. Whether you are dealing with significant anxiety or depression, or simply need a new environment to learn your way through new challenges with a helping eye and ear, I bring a humorous, creative, curious and open-minded approach to helping you progress through life's challenges.

From the heaviness of loss, the strain of daily tasks with living anxiety or depression, or working towards overcoming past difficulties, every situation deserves a supporting person to help navigate the healing. Life does not have to be done alone and neither do any complications, whether you see them as large or small. Emotions, thoughts, and feelings are all an innate part of what makes us who we are. To be greeted by them with empathy and warmth from someone else can be something everyone deserves.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
