We all want to be happy, or at least free from emotional pain. I help adults and adolescents deal with obstacles to their preferred lives--unwanted symptoms, relationship challenges, difficulty adjusting to change and loss. My goal is to reinforce your strengths, while co-discovering with you new solutions to the issues blocking growth. I offer a creative and practical style, drawing on approaches specifically tailored to your needs.
I work with anxiety, panic, social phobia, depression, trauma, and loss. I also assist individuals in life transitions, including adjustment to chronic pain syndromes and health challenges. I believe the therapy relationship offers a safe place to explore questions of identity, relationship to self, meaning, choice, values, and commitment.
Whenever possible, I use methods that research has shown to be effective. If clients are open to it, I use mindfulness-based practices to support emotional balance. My past experience as a lawyer and professional writer helps me to relate to the pressures faced by those working in similar fields.
