I have worked with adolescents and adults in the areas of trauma and abuse, depression, life transitions, obsessive compulsive disorder, and family struggles.
We are all born with dreams and a purpose to fulfill. Sometimes those dreams are muted or tossed aside in the face of grief, challenges or simply the effort to survive. There are times when each of us will face challenges that seem beyond us. The good news is, you do not have to do it alone. Let me help you remember your true identity and call out the strength within that you may not be able to see. You are unique, resilient and made for the journey in which you find yourself.

We utilize evidence-based practices and research to offer individual and family/couples counseling.
Trying to figure out who you are? What your purpose is? Looking to improve relationships? Wholehearted living is a concept that I have adopted in the name of my practice and in the way I interact with each client. "It means cultivating courage, compassion, and connection and to think... I am enough... Yes I'm imperfect, vulnerable, and sometimes afraid but that doesn't change the truth that I am also brave and worthy of love and belonging" - B. Brown. I believe any person deserves to feel whole. This is a process of returning to yourself through excavation, unlearning, and remembering who we are.

When working with Eating Disorders, I believe in a team approach to therapy to include a dietitian/nutritionist, the individual's primary care physician and/or psychiatrist and the family members.
I love working with individuals, families and couples to help them achieve health and well being. I have been in Colorado as a licensed therapist for over 32 years. The main issues that I work with are Depression, Anxiety, Mood disorders, Relationship Issues, PTSD, Adolescent Issues, Health and Wellness, Life Coaching and Eating Disorders (and Disordered Eating). Although I have worked with many issues, I specialize in the treatment of Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating. The populations I work with are adolescents through adults. Greta, my therapy dog, joins us in sessions.

It would be an honor to work with you and/or your family.
Healthy thought patterns and behaviors require a balance of reason and emotion. Stress, major life changes, trauma, and other issues can lead to the primitive, irrational parts of the brain taking charge. At Whole-Brain Counseling, LLC, I strive to help my clients feel safe to connect to their emotions and to find harmony through their rational cognitions. I feel honored to work with children and young adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, and/or symptoms of trauma. I especially enjoy counseling families through parenting challenges, as well as helping clients to understand and heal their inner child.

I believe all human beings have the potential to change and move towards an Authentic self they desire. I believe each of us wake up in the morning wanting to enjoy life or to be able to enjoy life; unfortunately, many of us did not experience our ideal life, whether in our family, home or in the world. Developing one's Authentic self is key to enjoying life in a value congruent manner. Good day to you. Here is an inadequate description of my experience with humans and how I became a LPC. My parents fostered hundreds of foster children, trained new foster and experienced foster parents.

They are distressed that they are at odds with family; concerned over the loss of control with substances; and some are wondering about their purpose in the world.
In my years of doing this work, I have seen the biggest challenge for clients is in making that first appointment. The problems we face in life are difficult. The hurts we feel, impede our ability to problem-solve. I do not proclaim to have all the answers, but I truly love working with clients to find solutions that fit their situation. In my practice I utilize both Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy modalities to undergird my client-centered approach. Together we will explore and challenge the thoughts and actions that contribute to problems, along with developing a plan for practicing new ways of thinking.

I use a unique and personalized combination of cognitive and experiential techniques like Internal Family Systems, DBT, EMDR and creative arts therapies.
Have you ever uttered the words "I am sick and tired of being sick and tired" or felt like even when you are happy, that you are just waiting for the other shoe to fall? Do you have thoughts that no matter what you do, nothing seems to change and you find yourself in the same toxic relationships over and over again? Maybe you have even had thoughts that it's all too much and there never seems to be that proverbial light at the end of the tunnel that everybody keeps talking about. Yet something keeps you going, some small voice inside you knows you want more, knows you are capable of more.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
