I work with unique individuals who are seemingly successful and happy but deep inside feel lost, alone, even if they are in a relationship, and often feel like they don't belong or struggle to be present in life. With expertise gathered from years of experience across borders, time zones and cultures, I dive alongside men and women into the deep ocean of darkness— including all types of diversity, in-between/intersecting identities, worldwide travelers, high-achieving/performing and creative people. Good therapy works. However, there are often barriers between you and "good therapy." It's hard to find a therapist that is a match, hard to look at your life with honesty, and hard to work on becoming better. I'm a Counseling Psychologist providing psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, and couples. I've worked with a diverse range of clients with all sorts of presenting concerns. I've taught university classes on counseling and completed research on human behavior change. I know it's hard to find good therapy, but through all of my experiences, I've found one fact that remains consistently clear: good therapy works.

This is a very unsettling time for many and being able to help my clients find their footing in such an uncertain time is my passion. I work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and trauma. My approach is to provide a safe, nonjudgemental space for growth to occur. I am comfortable working with clients who have struggled with past therapists and feel as if they are unable to use their voice or feel lost. I am comfortable working with individuals and couples, and often explore and help resolve maladaptive patterns, cognitions, and intimacy issues that many people struggle with.

Are you feeling "stuck," indecisive, depressed, or anxious? We all face life difficulties that limit our skills and tools for managing our emotions, reducing symptoms, building relationships, and having a sense of self-worth. Understanding, learning what is happening in your brain, and practicing skills and coping mechanisms are vital to living a worthwhile life. I have spent the last few years assisting clients, building their toolbox, understanding the emotional system, and improving their lives.

In my practice I try to customize the therapy to the needs of each individual patient--whether the person is looking for help with a short-term, acute crisis; a longer-term but more focused problem, such as depression or anxiety; or more deeply entrenched difficulties with identity, relationships, or general sense of direction and meaning in life. Regardless of the treatment approach used, however, all effective therapy is built on a foundation of trust, compassion and empathy. I therefore work to build a collaborative relationship with my patients, so we can work together to achieve agreed-upon goals.

Experience utilizing evidence-based therapy methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, humanistic therapy, and motivational interviewing. I use a straightforward approach with clients to get them to open up and work towards achieving their goals. I find incorporating one's strengths to drive treatment allows for easier participation and transitioning to using those strengths to begin independently solving problems as they arise.
