I offer clients a blend of working with the mind, body and soul as a path to finding the right balance in their emotional, spiritual and physical lives. I am a Marriage and Family therapist licensed in both Florida and Connecticut for snowbirds who would like to stay connected year round.

I am available to treat adults of any and all race, and religious ideology. There is no ideal client per say. I seek to work with individuals who are struggling with a mental health disorder and are looking to get a handle on their daily life and mental wellbeing. I hope each client will bring a level of commitment to therapy and desire to work on their stated goals through the use of coping skills, and different types of therapeutic interventions, which will be taught and discussed to allow the client to attain their goals.

I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship based on respect and understanding is essential to making positive change and helping individuals gain new insight, a healthier perspective or perhaps more meaning in their lives. In order for an individual to reach their full potential, it is important to uncover reasons they may be "stuck" in unhealthy relationships, addictions, poor self-image or other negative situations or behaviors. Cumulative experience has provided a deeper understanding of how dysfunctional patterns, low self esteem, mental illness and addiction can have an impact on the individual as well as those around them.

With a major focus on substance use, depression and anxiety, I am looking to help provide continuous social support, mental health education and processing, substance use education, relapse prevention and overdose prevention education. I am looking to help aid those in maintaining their sobriety, a healthy mind and body, ongoing mood stability and a fresh start. I have had the pleasure of working with adolescents and adults for over 20 years as a Licensed Clincial Social Worker specializing in depression, anxiety, and phase of life issues. My therapeutic approach stems from a strength based perspective with the purpose of increasing self-awareness and developing positive behavioral patterns to best encourage a happy and healthy life experience. I offer individual and couples psychotherapy with a flexible schedule.

Whether mental distress manifests as substance abuse, anxiety, depression, relationship issues or life event stressors, understanding the nature of the mind itself and developing coping techniques to calm waves of agitation is of paramount importance. As mental distress is diminished through counseling techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness techniques, then present issues can be examined collaboratively at a pace that feels comfortable. Successful change must be growth enhancing but not overwhelming. Personally, I find yoga and meditation powerful for self renewal.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over fifteen years experience working with adolescents and adults. I am an experienced faculty member at the Yale Child Study Center and work with individuals, couples and families through anxiety, depression, relationships and family transitions such as divorce and illness.

My Center for Progressive Treatment is best for substance-involved individuals and their loved ones who have not reached their goals with traditional treatment, especially those who are not inclined toward 12-step (AA or NA) approaches. We believe that you, the client, 1) know what treatment will work for you (you pick from a wide array of scientifically-proven treatments vs. the traditional idea that others should decide for you); 2) already have the power to change (vs. it comes from admitting powerlessness); and 3) are your own best source of motivation (vs. it comes from external pressure or a higher power).

I've been in this field for 20 years and doing private practice for 15 of them. My passion lies in helping people in a variety of settings. I've worked in multiple community based programs, including Youth and Family Services throughout the state. Most recently, I've been working with homeless/at-risk youth and children in crisis. My ability to work with a diverse population has allowed me to develop a "no-nonsense" aproach to therapy. I believe in my client's and their ability to make significant life changes.
