CBT, DBT, Mindfulness Training, and Biofeedback have been proven to lower stress and anxiety while increasing our ability to function optimally.
Anxiety and worry, feelings of panic and lack of control can affect us at different times in our lives, but when these feelings become overwhelming, or are interfering with leading a happy, productive life, we search for help and answers. I commend you on taking the first step toward wholeness. Together we will work on building the necessary tools and skills utilizing evidence-based theraputic approaches. The goal is to empower you to work through your current issue and any future ones. We will start from where you are now and work towards where you are determined to go.

Trying to pick the right therapist can be a challenge. You can think of our first meeting more like a conversation, where we will go over what you are experiencing and how I can help you materialize your goals, values, and priorities. I offer a safe, comfortable, and compassionate space where we can explore how to reduce your suffering and help you get to where you want to be. For years, I have made it my purpose to help others resolve their internal pain and heartache. Although I tailor my approach for each client, I tend to consistently utilize EMDR, psychodynamic, gestalt, DBT, and narrative theoretical orientations.

DBT skills treatment follows four modules system.
Finding the right psychotherapist is challenging and can be a lengthy process. Once the search is completed, and the therapy is under way, it will become rewarding and healing. My approach to psychotherapy is mindful, accepting and supportive. Trained in individual, couple, and family therapy, complex trauma, as well as clinical medicine and public health epidemiology, I provide treatment from an individualized integrative perspective, based on what is most beneficial to each person. My cultural and crosscultural perspectives allow me to also factor in the cultural impact on human behavior.

Psychodynamic talk therapy, CBT, DBT, and psychoeducation are just a few of the treatment approaches that I incorporate, as I believe therapy should be individualized for you.
Sometimes you may feel stuck, have trouble understanding your emotions, or need some help sorting out your thoughts, but the good news is you do not have to do it alone. Mental health affects every part of your life, and I am here to provide a safe, empathetic, and judgement-free space to explore and express what you are experiencing. It is important to talk about your feelings and experiences, and by examining them together, we can address any concerns regarding anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or negative thoughts, to name a few. We can then work on building coping skills to help you deal with life’s stressors.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
