I work with adolescents and adults in treatment areas that include anxiety, stress, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma, relational problems, attachment, parenting, communication issues, self esteem, and women’s issues.
It may have been a long time since considering therapy or feeling a need for additional support. I understand it can be overwhelming to initially take the first step. I want you to feel you can reach out today without knowing where to begin. My approach to therapy is understanding where you are in the present moment and working collaboratively with you step-by-step. You may have your own ideas to treatment, and I am open to understanding those ideas to work with you to achieve your goals. We can work together to integrate research based interventions into your treatment.

My name is Marissa Corry and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. I have been a therapist for 7 years and have experience treating clients from adolescents to 65+. My goal is to provide an atmosphere for my clients to grow and thrive. Over the past few years many individuals have been in survival mode and are struggling to see their full potential. My focus is on providing clients the support, motivation, and tools needed to become the best versions of themselves. "We'll never know our full potential unless we push ourselves to find it."

There are times in life where we realize that having someone to help us navigate through the challenges may be necessary. Having a therapist you can trust help you process through big emotions, life changes, or mental health struggles may be what’s needed. A strong therapeutic relationship, where you are accepted and seen, creates a safe space to explore these issues. Together we can explore the hard feelings, resolve past and current wounds, improve communication with self and others, increase self-esteem, and develop stronger and more meaningful relationships.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
