I often treat people who have anger, anxiety, relationship issues, career indecisiveness, and people who often get stuck or lost and don't know the next steps they need to take to help make their lives better.
My name is Brian Webb, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). The way that I approach therapy is to find out what's currently an issue as well as other things that may be keeping you from being your best self. The way that I provide therapy is that I work on the whole person using Alderian Therapy. While this is the first approach, I often combine it with cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and solution-focused therapy.

From children, adolescents, to adults, we have served individuals, couples, and families since 2004.
The driving force that makes each therapy session successful is how hard our client works to achieve his/her goals. It takes a lot to seek therapy and the first step is the most difficult one. However, we believe in the innate power that our client has within him/herself to find a way, El Camino. Our approach is client centered, but at times direct because we are not afraid to work on what may be difficult for you to face. With background in community mental health, we understand what happens when mental health fails to be properly treated.

For couples, I use the Gottman method, and I teach how to manage conflict and how conflict can actually be an opportunity to expand one's growth.
Throughout my many years of experience, I have seen many clients, each person with a unique set of circumstances to cope with. Anxiety and depression may factor into their life arc, some may be dealing with grief or past traumas, and others may have issues with their self-image. When assessing couples (I am both LPC and LMFT, so I frequently see clients with a variety of needs), I've noticed that the main issues that I offer assistance with tend to be communication issues that then lead to conflict. Clients that come to me actively want to improve their lives, and it is my pleasure to support them by meeting them where they are.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
