Whether struggling with depression, anxiety, unresolved trauma, relationship issues, or whatever is getting in your way, my goal is to help you help yourself. Things can get better. Take that first step toward healing.

Many people with emotional issues also experience cognitive issues such as reduced attention, decreased memory and difficulties with planning, etc.
Some people seek counseling for emotional issues such as anxiety and depression associated with problems in work, school or family life. Other people enter counseling to help them heal and cope with traumatic events that have taken place in their lives. Counseling works by giving you clarity, support and the courage to move forward in your life.

I am passionate about helping people triumph over trauma, learn mindfulness-based practices to reduce stress and manage anxiety, improve self-esteem, understand the relationship among our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors (CBT) and learn to tolerate distress in their lives.
Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed with life, exhausted, anxious, or depressed? Have you experienced a stressful or traumatic life event? Perhaps you struggle with a chronic illness. Maybe you struggle with a difficult child or teen. Or maybe your partner has been unfaithful. Are you tired of feeling isolated and hopeless? You want- no, you need- things to change, but you don’t where to begin. Asking for help can be one of the most difficulty things to do, but I would be honored to help you discover your inner strength and begin your journey to healing and being who you are meant to be.

I specialize in helping those who experience anxiety, depression, and adjustment challenges due to grief after facing a tremendous loss. Life has a way of handing us the most unexplainable, unimaginable, and unexpected events. You’re giving your all, day in and out, but processing those seen and unforeseen situations seems unbearable on your own.

Perhaps you have a history of trauma or abuse, but are at a safe place and ready to become more authentic, engaged, easeful and present. You aren’t afraid to look at the stuck places where your patterns keep repeating. You know you want more energy, more loving kindness towards yourself or others, more peace. Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
