“What is to give light must endure burning.” ― Victor Frankl. Everyone needs someone to hear them. I am here to lend an ear, be present when life gets tough, and assist you in finding coping skills to weather any storm successfully. Life can be confusing and stressful and we all need a helping hand in becoming the best version of ourselves. My practice consists of working with teenage and adult individuals that want to become stronger, feel better about themselves, and want to move past their past. I truly believe that our past holds us hostage and prevents us from being in, and enjoying, the present moments in life.

The process of change and healing is challenging. Healing is hardly a singular upwards track and in fact, there are multiple ups and downs. Healing is an adventure that takes us outside of our comfort zone and our ‘norm’ to find self love and show up as our authentic selves in all areas of our lives. We step outside of the standards and experiences we thought were protecting us and in actuality, they were our survival mechanisms that are no longer functional for us through our healing process. We may feel defeated or isolated when we feel stuck. My experience has shown me that people are resilient and able to heal and grow.

With a strong foundation and value of social justice principles, I work collaboratively with clients, acknowledging the impact of systemic issues on mental health. I facilitate discussions on privilege, oppression, and intersectionality, aiming to empower clients to live their preferred narratives. I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable therapeutic environment. By acknowledging and discussing systemic issues, privilege, and oppression, I hope to empower clients to understand the broader context of their experiences. This can lead to increased self-awareness and agency in navigating the complexities of their lives.

Life is difficult. We all make our own path through life; using our wits, smarts, failed attempts, guidance and triumphs. There are no SOPs, no formula to follow, and definitely no easy answers. The right choice for one may be the wrong decision for another. Managing our emotional life is even more complex and if not tougher. Whether it's relationships with family, friends, co-workers; or facing anxiety, depression, addiction, grief & loss, self-doubt etc, here at Lotus Circle Counseling Services, we would like to invite you to a space where you could feel safe to talk things out.

I believe in taking a client centered approach in therapy and the person I am working with is the expert on their own life, and would benefit from unbiased, non-judgemental feedback and support. I am a CODA, child of deaf adult and fluent in American sign language, and I am a new mom myself. I thrive in working with people on their healing journey of processing past trauma, and working at that persons pace and take an empowerment, feminist approach as well.

We all feel lost from time to time, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been through my own therapy as a young adult when I was stuck in a bout of anxiety and panic attacks due to childhood trauma. Throughout my years of working with traumatized individuals, I learned first-hand about how childhood trauma can have a strong impact on adulthood. I can help you address unresolved trauma, in order for you to find passion, connection, and purpose in your life.

I believe therapy is a journey we embark on together, where I can provide support and guidance as you explore those parts of yourself that previously felt too dark or broken to reveal. My goal is for the therapy room to be sacred space where you feel valued and heard; and most importantly, where you feel safe.

If you are finding yourself impacted by hurt and harm from your past, I am here to help. Our experiences can weigh heavily on our present relationships with family, partners, and children, diminish our sense of thriving, and impact our faith and spirituality. Often we are paying the debt of generations before us to benefit the generations to come. Healing is a powerful, though sometimes painful process, but you don’t have to do this alone. Reaching out for support is the first courageous step in this investment.

My primary goal is to become useless to you as quickly as possible. That's not a typo; I want to help you make positive changes so that you no longer need to come see me. Whether you're struggling with your relationship, feelings of depression, anxiety, a traumatic event, addiction, or a complex combination of issues, I can help you make sense of the chaos. As every person and problem is unique, I am flexible in my approach, tailoring sessions to meet your specific needs.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
