Feeling overwhelmed by life challenges? Have your attempts to deal with stress left you feeling disconnected or hopeless? Maybe you are seeking alternatives to running away. Perhaps you’ve been nervous to ask for help. It’s so human to feel this way and so painful. I find it a privilege to support individuals during their hardest times and I provide a safe and secure place to be vulnerable. Meeting with a therapist can be incredibly healing and empowering. Pain is often unavoidable, but suffering is not. I will teach you how to choose joy and live with full intention.

I believe we all need help sometimes. Life is a journey, a journey that can be painful to navigate. It is my honor to walk beside you. It makes a difference to have someone that can help hold the burden until you find your own strength. It is my privilege to hold space as you work through trauma, pain, and grief. Transformation is a process, and to have support integrating the pain into the depths of your soul, is a gift of connection. Soul to soul. If you are searching for an advocate and a healer, it is not a coincidence you found me.

We learn how to cope with life's inevitable stresses--and how to manage relationship differences-- in our early attachment environments. Usually, our developed capacities are equal to the challenges encountered. However, at times in our lives, we may face challenges that benefit from therapeutic support. At these times I can offer a skilled, warm, emotionally safe environment in which self-understanding can be deepened and healing can occur. Through our work together, a new "lens" can develop which allows clients to gain understanding and acceptance of their human needs, entitlements and healthy vulnerability.

Our Center helps anyone suffering from unresolved trauma or disturbing experiences. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, panic attacks, insomnia, hyper-vigilance, restlessness, rage, exhaustion, fatigue, or dissociation. We exist to alleviate the profound suffering of those who have been traumatized in childhood or adulthood. Trauma is often not healed from talk therapy alone. We use cutting edge trauma modalities that access your primitive brain where trauma is stored. Through this, you will release the trauma and all of the physical issues that go along with it, and graduate with a freedom you have never known.

I feel incredibly fortunate to help my clients find the freedom to live a life of their choosing, improve their relationship with self and others, and find peace. I use brain-based therapies proven to uncover and address issues that talk therapy can take years to heal. In doing so I help children, teens and adults overcome challenges that keep them stuck in negative patterns. Often traumas are at the root of these negative patterns. By offering Brainspotting, a cutting-edge therapy that evolved from EMDR, trauma is accessed, processed and released. This is life-changing. This is freedom.

My ideal client is someone who has a good sense of humor, a desire for change, an open mind, ok w/an occassional bad word (or two), and MUST love dogs. I do animal assisted therapy.

Things look pretty good from the other side of the street. Most see you as “having it altogether.” After all, you’re the driven, reliable one everyone turns to. But underneath, you feel disconnected, numb and alone. Sure, you can pull it together when you need to, and the drugs and alcohol help, but you know this cycle can’t last. To top it all off, you feel guilty you can’t be everything, to everyone, all the time. You know it’s time to make a change.

Maybe something terrible happened to you or someone you love, and you wonder how to live with the triggers, grief, and anger. Your relationships are likely affected - maybe you overreact or feel numb and detached from others. You learned coping skills but are frankly tired of coping. There is good news - the brain can heal itself, called neuroplasticity. I experienced trauma first-hand and healed. I can help you do the same and heal your brain. If you tried other things to heal and found little relief, there is a good chance you have undischarged traumatic stress. Let's get to the trauma root and extract it once and for all!

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Therapists

How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?

Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioral therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behavior therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?

There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom—which may include antipsychotics like aripiprazole, antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or anti-anxiety drugs like benzodiazepines.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?

Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
