Importantly, there is one crucial relationship that has a direct bearing on your mental health, and that is your relationship with yourself.
In over ten years of practice, I've noticed many people seek therapy for a few main reasons: A breakdown of trust and communication in intimate relationships; One's past experiences are negatively affecting present reality; Loneliness and disconnection; and a need for a sense of purpose. Of course, there are others, but the reasons I mention show up often. I attribute much of the distress I see in others to self-worth issues. Generally, worthiness is neither modeled nor nurtured in our culture.

I engage with my patient(s)in a mutual exploration of our evolving relationship, as well as their early childhood experiences and dreams.
My approach in therapy is to respect each individual as a whole person. I believe each person knows himself or herself best. Rather than just treating the symptom(s), I attempt to get to know the person well enough to guide them into insights of the CAUSES of their problems. My ultimate goal is to help each individual achieve the healthiest level of well-being and highest developmental level of functioning. Whenever appropriate, I work with multiple members of the same family in order to strengthen the family and/or marriage.

It takes a lot to make the decision to seek therapy, and I’m so glad that you’re doing it! Life is complicated and so are we. When something isn't working, when you’re feeling stuck, or when you’re amidst a transition in life, you may find yourself outside of your comfort zone. This can feel uncomfortable, unsettling, or even scary at times. This can also be a beneficial time to get to know yourself and your relationships more. If you're struggling with the above or noticing challenges with anxiety, depression, a life transition, relationship distress, parenting stress, or ambiguous loss, I have experience working with these issues.

There are times in our lives when we need help restoring our relationships. As a therapist with 30 years of marriage experience, and significant clinical training, I believe working together I can help you reach your goals. As a therapist I have seen that two things seem to be necessary to start the healing process, mercy and empathy. When a person experiences mercy, it opens them up to experiencing empathy for the other. Using Gottman Method Couples therapy as the foundation, I will work together with you to accomplish the restoration of your relationship.

I want to help you find your way through unique life challenges by first creating a positive working relationship as a foundation for the important work we will do together.
Have you ever felt like you wanted more out of life, but you weren’t sure where to start? You find yourself engaging in familiar and ineffective patterns, but aren’t sure how to break free? Choosing therapy as a mode to find your way is a courageous decision you can make toward transformation, in a way that feels authentic and tailor-made for you. Seeking therapy does not have to mean there is something “wrong” with you, only that you need a safe and accepting place to make sense of difficult emotions, painful experiences, and to create tools to make lasting change. **Currently, all sessions with me are Telehealth only**

After 30+ years practicing psychotherapy and marriage counseling, I still find relationships issues to be a major reason why people come to therapy. Relationships can sometimes be too emotionally merged, or too emotionally distant and isolating (however, there are times when relationships feel both merged and isolating all at the same time). My focus is on helping people realize and alter emotional issues that pop up over and over again and consistently inhibit relationships. Sometimes we know we're stuck or lost in a relationship, but we just can't figure out...any way 'out' of what we feel.
