Life can be tough. We all have needs to connect with others and be seen for who we are, what we’ve been through, and how we can grow further. Maybe you’d like to find a better way to play the cards that life has dealt. As a therapist, I will journey with you as we sort through your strengths and challenges to find novel solutions. This may include facing difficult emotions, finding a way to tell someone you’re sorry (even if that someone is you), honing social skills, setting boundaries with loved ones or coworkers, dealing with a traumatic or overwhelming experience, or just balancing an already full and happy life.

I work with individuals and couples to overcome spiritual and self-esteem issues, changing unhealthy patterns, improving relationships, and finding healthy ways to cope with the pain of the past, the present and the future. I utilize an integrative approach, drawing upon a variety of orientations including a trauma-informed perspective, psychodynamic approach, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based interventions. Through self-exploration, we can work to remain in the present moment, get back into the body, shift limiting beliefs and identify a fresh perspective that aligns with your inner-most goals and values.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, trauma, or confusing relationship patterns that leave them questioning themselves. You may feel stuck in cycles you can't fully explain, struggling to trust your instincts or understand why certain experiences continue to affect you. Often these struggles are rooted in unresolved trauma or relational wounds from past experiences. Many clients I work with are recovering from emotionally harmful relationships or navigating major life transitions that disrupt their sense of stability and identity.

As we navigate pregnancy, birth, and parenthood, we are often challenged. Struggling during pregnancy. Feeling fearful as we prepare for our upcoming birth. Looking for a safe place to process birth trauma. Experiencing postpartum depression/anxiety. Difficulties adjusting to change. Seeking resolution about the past so we can be the kind of parents we want to be. Yearning to parent differently than we were raised, but not sure how. I will absolutely challenge you to do the work in these areas. And I will also be there to support you as you prioritize yourself, listen to your body, and watch the rest of the pieces fall into place.

Many of the clients I work with are high-functioning individuals carrying significant personal or professional responsibility. They may be struggling with anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationship difficulties, or challenges with intimacy and boundaries. While they appear strong outwardly, internally they may feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected. They want relief from constant pressure and a deeper understanding of the patterns that keep them stuck. Their goal is to restore emotional balance, improve relationships, and regain clarity and stability. I provide therapy in both English and Spanish to support clients.

Beginning therapy, or starting over with a new therapist, can feel overwhelming or intimidating. My goal is to ease that transition and reduce the anxieties that often accompany taking this step. I work from a trauma-informed perspective and focus on creating a warm, validating space where you feel safe to be your authentic self. I want each session to offer something meaningful, whether that’s gaining clarity, finding language for your experiences, developing skills or exploring the emotions that shape your inner world.

Life can be challenging and you are not alone in your struggles. We often get stuck in using coping strategies that are no longer serving us well. The process of therapy can help you discover what is causing you to suffer and how you can improve your responses to life situations. You will find that some things are within your control and also that acceptance is key to those that are not. I believe that all of us have an innate tendency to move towards healing and a trusting therapeutic relationship can help you with that.

I am in-network for Aetna, Anthem, BCBS, Carelon BH, Cigna, Evernorth Medicare, Oscar Healtand, Cigna, but I can also provide a superbill for my out-of-network clients.
Seeking support outside of the "ideal" support system can be uncomfortable. I want to thank you for taking this step. It isn't easy. Believe me when I say that there is life after trauma. There is healing after pain. Yes, there is a life of happiness. More often than we would like to admit, we spend too much time focused on loss and who has failed us. The universe will send you exactly what and who you need to be okay, yet we will refuse it because it didn't come from those we expected it from. Support, healing, kindness, and push can come from anywhere. Your healing awaits. Click the link. I'm happy to help.

I’ve been a counselor and a coach for a long time now and I have learned that to be our best, to truly make positive changes in our lives, we need to address the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. We need to fully integrate the emotional child, the intellectual adult, the physical body, and the spirit guide (soul). I believe that everyone is capable of, is in fact entitled to, a life of happiness, love, peace, and fulfillment. I utilize an integrative approach that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), empathetic listening, mindfulness, and spirituality.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
