I practice an integrative approach to psychotherapy, utilizing body-centered techniques, mindfulness, CBT, Internal Family Systems and attachment-based therapies to explore both systemic and individual challenges.
I specialize in working with clients in the LGBTQ+ community, to create a genuine and compassionate therapeutic relationship that is gender- and sexuality-affirming. I work with adults experiencing a range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment difficulties, relationship and sex-related issues. It is through a warm and non-judgemental collaboration that we can examine the sources of adversity you are experiencing, and together create the motivation to make the changes you want to see in your life.

In my work with young children, I utilize a variety of attachment-based techniques, including dramatic play and art therapy.
What are the stories we tell ourselves, about ourselves? Where do we learn them? Therapy is a great place to start creating new stories that are more aligned with your values and desires. I believe that healing happens in the relationship and approach therapy as a creative, collaborative experience where humor, kindness, and self-expression are valued and encouraged. My areas of expertise include working with young people who have experienced trauma and family conflict, though I work with individuals of all ages to help them manage the stressors of life and achieve greater self-awareness, acceptance, and meaning.

I primarily utilize a psychodynamic and attachment-based approach and incorporate other modalities to develop a unique plan of action tailored to your specific needs.
My approach to therapy is warm and collaborative. I believe therapy works when we establish a meaningful relationship that allows you to feel safe enough to develop a sense of curiosity about your inner world. Within this space, we will challenge long-held self-narratives and discover the roots of dissatisfying relational patterns. My goal is to help you see your world differently and build agency to make changes in your life. Together we will identify new ways of relating to yourself and others, leading to a greater sense of meaning and fulfillment.

Therapy is the start of a rewarding and challenging intimate relationship with a complete stranger (me!). We will start by working to understand your current concerns as it relates to your history and family of origin. Then we work to uncover and explore patterns of thinking and behaviors, and identify ways to tolerate or change difficult emotions, while strengthening coping skills. I utilize different modalities including psychodynamics, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Complicated Grief, and positive and attachment-based lenses to support people going through anxiety, life transitions, grief, and relationship challenges.

I am a seasoned clinician based in Brooklyn specializing in complex trauma and those suffering from or adjacent to someone with cancer. Somatic tools like EMDR and DBR are supported by an attachment based, interactive approach. Psychodynamic therapy helps us identify what's under the surface to tackle old habits, default behaviors, cognitive distortions that can cause symptoms like anxiety or depression. Trauma can be debilitating until you learn strategies to weaken its hold. Therapy is a partnership to strengthen your sense of self, create sustainable skills to cope with stressors, and feel effective in meeting your own needs.

I have extensive training and experience in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), which is a highly effective, attachment-based modality.
Individuals and couples who see me for therapy are typically dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, a low sense of self-worth, grief, and/or trauma. They are struggling to take risks with vulnerability, to process loss, set boundaries, understand the power of no, discern safe spaces, and build trust. Many of my patients are challenged by the stories their anxiety tells them, negative self-talk, sadness that makes it difficult to effectively process their thoughts and feelings, and previous traumatic experiences or vicarious exposure to trauma.

My approach includes culturally competent therapies tailored to each individual patient, drawing from Psychodynamic, Narrative, Existential, Dialectical-Behavioral, Cognitive-Behavioral, Attachment-Based, and Family Systems therapies.
Seeking therapy is a courageous act of self love; it is a commitment to an understanding of self and others without judgment, an essential step toward growth, healing, and quality relationships. I provide psychotherapy to a diverse population of clients, specializing in areas such as survivors of trauma, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, anger, family issues, couples' issues, depression, chronic illness, and grief. My practice is rooted in principles of affirmation, intersectional justice, harm reduction, and embodiment and holds the position that social oppressions and systemic problems operate as barriers to wellness.

My work integrates Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) with psychodynamic, attachment-based and trauma-centered approaches.
We all have the capacity to heal. With the right safety and support, we can come home to ourselves, allow difficult emotions to be released, and re-author old stories to create new meaning in our lives. I use experiential therapy to help you move through barriers so you can arrive into your body with compassion and connection. From this place, we can explore your relationship to self and others, come to understand patterns that create stuckness, and practice new skills so you can embody insights, change and self-belonging.

I treat perinatal mood & anxiety disorders and have received advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, an attachment-based model for couples.
Life can be overwhelming. Finding a therapist shouldn't add to that stress. Each one of us deserves access to a safe, judgment-free space. As a therapist, I fiercely defend that space for my clients, and I hope to meet you there with warmth, authenticity, and humor. My work in medical, educational and nonprofit settings in New York has shaped a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive approach. Many of my clients are managing anxiety or depression related to complicated relationships, stressful family dynamics, big life changes, and trauma from the past or present.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
