Sometimes we feel stuck. Grief, anxiety, depression, and health issues can overwhelm you and make everyday life feel like you are spinning your wheels. Are you wanting to gain some traction to start healing? Are you ready for change? Are you looking for the next steps to living your best life? I have been in the field of clinical social work for 30 years using several modalities to help individuals make change in their lives. I use a holistic approach that looks at how we treat our bodies, what thoughts we have, how we connect to others, and how we connect to the universe.

Hello! I am currently a graduate student at Liberty University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. In the past I worked as a dance teacher in Wake County School's and while there learned about mental health needs for people of all ages and the everyday impacts of trauma. I found myself sitting with children and parents creating a safe space that allowed for dark stories to be shared whether verbally or through dance. Since leaving teaching I have been privileged to have been able to sit with people in their stories related to sexual domestic violence, childhood abuse, spiritual abuse, and Deaf cultural discrimination.

I enjoy caring for my clients, who struggle to feel loved and cared for daily. I work with individuals suffering from anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, major life changes, and couples and families who experience chronic relationship conflict. Many of my clients feel like their emotional needs aren’t being met. They feel guilty for wanting more in their lives and have difficulty advocating for themselves. I use EMDR, a structured yet flexible approach, to help clients process their trauma, reduce psychological distress, and promote healing and emotional well-being.

Continuing the legacy of grandmothers before me, I am a balabusta: creating home in body, mind, spirit, and community. I hold space as a witness, companion, and accomplice through the transition and growth with radical presence, attunement, and care. Interdependence, loving accountability, and liberatory embodiment are my guideposts. I graduated with Masters in Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill in 2022 and with my undergraduate degree from UNC Asheville in 2015. My career has encapsulated birth and death work, childcare, youth work, public health education, sex + pleasure education, disability justice, and community organizing.

If you are reading this, just know that you have taken an important first step in your mental health recovery. It has been my privilege to work with a very diverse group of clients of varying races, ethnicities, nationalities, genders and gender identities, sexual orientations, religions, disabilities, etc. I have also worked with clients of all ages, but most of my work has been with those age 13 and older. I draw mainly from the evidence-based treatments of cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and dialectical behavioral-informed therapeutic interventions.
