I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), if I can change my thinking it can change my feelings which will change my behaviors. I look at the counseling relationship as a collaboration between the individual and counselor with the person being the expert of their own lives. Success is about progress and not perfection and I believe everyone has it in themselves to meet their goals. I work with individuals, families, and couples primarily adults 18 plus.
I use cognitive behavioral therapy and other approaches to assist individuals in reaching their goals in a holistic manner. Our challenges and identity are not a single trait so addressing challenges starts with recognizing our worth or value as a person is not defined by our behaviors. If we can name the challenge we take our power back.
I believe everyone has value and worth and deserve respect and compassion when in a vulnerable position. We all have a story and challenges in our past, we are only as limited as we let ourselves be. I feel any barrier or challenge can be turned into a strength.
