I am a licensed mental health counselor who works with adults, ages 18 to 65 years. My approach is holistic which views the body, mind and spirit as interconnected. I help people to interact in more authentic ways in order to derive meaning and purpose from life, and to have more positive interactions with others. By examining patterns and habits that keep you stuck, you can increase your options and flexibility in your responses to life.

Every client is an ideal client as everyone is unique. Bringing out personal strength, passion, and goals, allows room for change. Whether working with someone that has insomnia and the goal is to be able to sleep at least 5 hours per night or someone who has been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder that fears abandonment; no matter the diagnosis, as a diagnosis is not what makes a person. What makes the person is what we will strive to find. "Simple Changes", are made in order to achieve the goal intended.

Take a moment before you read this, and let it sink in that just by being here, you have already taken a step towards improving your mental health. Believe that you are worthy and capable of doing that work. Therapy can be a place to increase your own understanding of yourself, identify patterns, and attend to the places that need healing. Sometimes it is difficult to hold ourselves with compassion, tune in to our own needs, and engage meaningfully with the people and world around us. In therapy, we can discover together what a vibrant and healthy life looks like for you, and how you will best be supported on that road.

I have worked with a variety of different clients with unique and diverse walks of life. I became a counselor because I believe in people's ability to grow, learn and heal. I am here to help guide and facilitate that growth, to meet you where you are to help you heal, learn and grow. I provide a space of non-judgment, that is safe to walk on your path of discovery and recovery. Life can be a difficult journey at times and for different reasons, but it helps to have someone walk along side you as you persevere through these trials. I believe in hope, that even in our darkest of days, hope is on the horizon.

We all want to belong. We want to feel capable in our lives and relationships - able to handle transitions, disruptions or disappointments. Each of us want the tools to effectively communicate what is going on inside, and have our loved ones hear and respond. We want connection - that feeling of being safe and secure. Sometimes our best efforts at connection get blocked by distress, anxiety, depression or trauma. Counseling can be a place to make sense of your experiences, and learn new ways of connecting with yourself and others, creating that security we all deserve.

You have been designed and created for excellence. This may not feel true at the moment, but you can borrow my belief for awhile. Have you found yourself frustrated that you can't live the life that you have imagined? I’m right there with you… and let me tell you, there is hope. Perhaps you struggle with self-criticism, shame, self-hatred, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, or even high levels of productivity that have all impacted your life and relationships in an uncomfortable way. You may even feel beyond help or that your life will never be what you would like it to be.

People achieve the most evolution when they feel seen, valued, and heard. This is what I strive to accomplish. My most important work is supporting others in elevating and reaching their full potential. One of my favorite things is seeing people succeed! I love witnessing people gain confidence in themselves, heal from their pain, replace unhelpful thinking patterns, and work toward their personal goals. I strongly believe that all people are capable of growth and change, no matter where they came from, or what they have been through.

We all have moments in life where the weight of our struggles feels too much to handle. If you are reading this, you have likely felt the exhaustion and heartache life can bring. The good news is you don’t have to carry this weight on your own. I work to create a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate environment where you can feel wholly accepted and cared for just as you are. Together, we will go on a journey of self-exploration where we identify and examine the hurts that have led you to where you are today. It is in this work together that true healing and peace can be found.

In life we face many challenges with our emotional health. We question our own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We cannot understand while moving forward seems so difficult. We start to have uncertainty with the present and the future. We begin to question if we will ever feel "normal" again. As your therapist, my goal and greatest reward includes helping my clients overcome their individual challenges, heal from trauma, and improve their overall mental health. I focus on helping clients find what "normal" really entails. This includes a confidential, safe, and trusting environment to allow clients to share their story.

I have been trained in many talk-based therapy modalities. However, I primarily use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with my patients. Not everyone is ready for EMDR, and talk-based therapy may be a better fit.

How can I find a therapist in Spokane County?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
