I really enjoy the work that I do as a professional counselor. I like the fact that this work is my first choice of profession and not my fall back or secondary job. I believe my core principle in doing this work is to focus on quality of work over quantity of clients. My goal is to provide the very best effort for each client/family I am fortunate enough to encounter to help them find their best solutions. I do not offer teletherapy. Only in-person.

Life continually poses many challenges. Most of the time we are able to manage and cope with these stressors quite well. At times, however, life may become so overwhelming and the pressure becomes so great that it begins to affect our work, our relationships with those we love and our overall outlook on life. As a counselor my job is to help you find manageable solutions to seemingly unmanageable life circumstances. I have experience working with young adults and adults facing a variety of issues, some of which include addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, codependency and anger management.

Through a guided conversation we can discover ways to help overcome feelings of depression, anger, or anxiety.
At times we all struggle with life changes such as job change or loss, the ending of a relationship, the loss of a loved one, parent-child conflict, or family-marital conflict. These changes can cause feelings of sadness, depression or anxiety. I look forward to working with clients who are seeking help with navigating life's ups and downs.

I have experience in working with individuals that have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, family conflict, anger management, poor impulse control, substance use, grief, gender identity, and other life transitions.
Everyone experiences challenges in life differently. Sometimes it can feel like walking uphill (challenging, but doable) while other times it can feel like an impossible climb up a steep mountain. When faced alone it can be daunting and become a scary place. Trauma, anxiety, depression, or life struggles can take control of your thoughts and imprison you into thinking you're all alone. Taking a step forward to get help can be difficult, but very brave. I believe in working side by side with you to help you work through life's challenges to find your inner confidence and hidden voice.

Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, anger, past traumas, sleep problems, chronic pain, or feel held back by any other issues, I am here to help you work past them.
Most people come to therapy having dealt with their problems alone for a long time. The first thing you will notice about therapy is that you are not alone anymore. We will start working together to develop a plan that can make your life what you want it to be. My practice is dedicated to helping you gain control over the difficult things in your life, gain an understanding of how different experiences have impacted you, and help you become the person that you have always wanted to be. Peace, control, and understanding are all possible. You are not alone, you are not damaged, or broken; you are human.

Everyone has "baggage" and it is what truly makes us unique. Sometimes our baggage is heavy which can make our journey extra challenging. At times, we just need someone to listen to our thoughts, help us understand what is going on and help us understand what we are needing or wanting. I went into counseling in order to work with those who suffer from depression, anxiety, body issues and trauma. As children, we are not necessary in control of our childhood but as adults we are. I have worked with adolscents through middle aged adults using specific interventions with CBT and DBT.

Are you ready to feel like yourself again? Maybe you're wanting to prioritize your mental health and wellbeing but aren’t quite sure where to start. Do you feel exhausted from taking care of others and neglecting your own needs. You are not alone... Life is filled with many transitions that don’t come with an instruction manual. When we are unprepared for life’s challenges, they can leave us feeling overwhelmed and hopeless. Those feelings may affect our relationships, work, self-esteem, and ability to function day to day.

Prior to becoming a therapist I was searching for my own therapist, I quickly learned that there weren’t many therapists out there that helped me feel culturally known and safe as a woman of color. The discouraging experience of struggling to find a therapy space that highlighted and honored my Mexican American experiences was the foundation that eventually culminated in my mission to provide a therapeutic space for others experiencing issues related but not limited to first generation adults trying to fit into two cultures and norms.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
