Are you at a point of transition in your life and would like to explore what you really want rather than what is expected or easy? If any of these questions speak to you then I think we might be a good match therapeutically. I specialize in helping people identify what they want and then support them in moving positively toward that goal. Nothing is more energizing and exciting than helping someone move more fully into who they want to be and the life they want to live.

My areas of experience include trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, RAD, Autism, and SPMI’s, among others. I have worked as a Crisis Therapist as well as ongoing counseling in an office and intensive in-home settings. Recognizing a need for help and reaching out is the first step toward positive changes and a healthier you.

In providing counseling therapy my top priority is to nourish, feed, and aid in sustaining the souls and minds of those who find themselves sitting with me through a loving filter. Those seeking help will find guidance, support, and an ear to listen. The identified areas of care can be addressed by my ability to navigate hope through providing individual, couples, and marital therapeutic counseling. I am passionate about helping others cultivate an awareness of functions present, and patterns/dynamics in rotation which may be responsible for feeding the imbalance of their life.

Do you often feel like something is wrong with you? Do you wonder why other people seem to be happy while you can’t be? Are you tormented by excessive worry and overthinking? Does being social and vulnerable even with people you trust terrify you? Life by itself can be hard. Instead of parties and parades, it’s often obstacles, infidelity, fighting, betrayal, moves, funerals, and divorces. But every day, people just like you, are starting therapy and finding many accessible paths to joy, peace of mind, and a grounding that is their birthright. Are you in need of this type of relief?

As a Clinician, I work with a mixed population of children and adults, across a wide range of treatment modalities. My youngest client is 3 years old and my oldest is 53 years old. I feel called to work with individuals who have been exposed to traumatic events in their lives. Trauma therapy allows children to communicate, express feelings, modify behavior, develop problem-solving skills, and learn a variety of ways of relating to others. In working with adults, I want to help you break through the barriers of your trauma experience that have hindered you in life. Do you desire to push past the pain, and find your healing?

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
