Psychotherapy is a helpful, guided, healing process of any wounds, sufferings that have been affecting you, you feeling revived again, feeling grounded with being solid mentally and emotionally, gaining self-control, living in the present moment and appreciate the present moment, gaining better self-awareness. Cognitive-Behavioral therapy is the main treatment modality practiced, helping you to reconstruct the negative thinking to more rational, positive thoughts to then have positive feelings and learn new, positive behaviors. I have experience in treating depression, anxiety, mood problems, substance abuse problems, and so forth.

Do you find yourself stagnating in life and lacking social support? Do you find yourself entrapped in ruminating and intrusive thoughts ranging from anxiety to suicidal thoughts? Do you struggle with self-doubt and resort to familiar behavioral patterns and addictions to mask your emotional pain? My client can struggle with stressors such as substance use to high-"functioning" depression; individuals that are 'going through the motions' to maintain their day-to-day life, inside they’re screaming. In recognizing the the void in care and understanding of marginalized persons' my approach in counseling is to provide emotional insight and reframing maladaptive thinking patterns through strength building.

As a psychotherapist, my ultimate goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for my clients to grow as a person and develop skills that will improve their overall quality of life. Therapy isn’t a one size fits all practice. Therefore, I believe in building good rapport with my clients to properly assess their needs in order to determine an individualized treatment plan. I have experience working with populations whose cultures and backgrounds often stigmatize mental health, therefore I am passionate about bridging that gap. I'm thankful that you have visited my page and I look forward to working with you!

I firmly believe that each person holds the answers to their challenges, and through the collaborative process of therapy, people can become empowered to discover these answers and achieve their goals. I obtained my master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling at Rutgers University. I received my undergraduate psychology degree from Boston University, where I focused on women, gender, queer and sexuality studies, rendering me sensitive to the needs and issues affecting members of the LGBTQIA+ and other diverse communities.

My experience working as a therapist has enhanced my appreciation for the individuality each client displays, and has made me cherish the collaborative process that clients and therapists get to take part in. I cultivate a client-friendly environment and work with my clients to not only create their own objectives, but to develop the trajectory they want therapy to take. Building a rapport with my clients is vital and I take my work seriously. I do my due diligence on the different forms of adversity clients may encounter and encourage clients to provide honest feedback so I can better help them and future clients.

Welcome. My name is Allie. I specialize in relationship psychotherapy and anxiety disorders. Patients that work well with me are those that wish to understand the deeper, unconscious drivers of their present anxious and/or depressive symptoms. I help all patients gain a life-long ability to self-reflect internally, take responsibility, and build more connected lives. An important note to consider is that I honor many aspects of masculinity that have been ridiculed culturally as of late, and empower men to embrace these important parts of themselves.

I firmly believe that “not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” I am dedicated to creating a safe space for you to be vulnerable and sit with your experiences. As you lead the journey, I am here to offer the unconditional compassion, validation, and acceptance that you deserve. While therapy may be difficult and uncomfortable at times, it is often in these moments that we experience the most meaningful change. I aim to create an environment where you can develop a true, authentic self; one that serves as a safe base for exploring your true self.

Do you often play REMs soundtrack: “It’s the end of the world as we know it” in your head constantly? I get it… life is scary now and it feels unpredictable, chaotic, and you despair. Keeping all this bottled up isn’t serving you well though. There is no gold medal for doing it on your own. Whether you are struggling with constant racing thoughts, feelings of sadness, parent/child dynamics, marriage difficulties, flashbacks, triggers, depressive symptoms caused by trauma, you deserve to be SEEN and HEARD. I have a nifty toolbox and I blend a variety of proven techniques to get you off the merry-go-round,

AVAILABLE FOR TELETHERAPY SESSIONS: In facing the world today, people often struggle with the problems of life and living that can manifest through all kinds of physical, psychological and spiritual sufferings. These afflictions can leave the individual emotionally conflicted, terribly confused and questioning what is of ultimate concern. In addition to the individual needing relief from and insight into such dreadful suffering, one may also aspire for greater Self understanding and realization, beyond the constraints of the personal past. Maybe I can help with some of this.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
