I have a comprehensive background treating a wide array of behavioral health symptoms and challenges. Common experiences I treat include anxiety, chronic stress, relationship issues related to attachment, guardedness, or trust, and complex trauma. I work to uncover and explore the root of issues to assist clients in permanently resolving or reducing symptoms with cognitive restructuring, developing adaptive behaviors, and teaching effective daily habits for overall healing and wellness. I am excited to bring strength-based, trauma-focused, and holistic therapy services to help restore hope and achieve a desirable quality of life.

Licensed mental health services for individuals and couples. Traditional face-to-face and televideo therapy sessions are available. Treating mood, anxiety, ADHD, grief, trauma-related disorders and adjustment/life transition challenges.

One day we may download a User's Manual for being human. Until then, therapy can help us navigate the rocky shoals and shed light onto the dark spots while setting ghosts to rest. We are far more capable than we think we are or given credit for. Napoleon Hill is quoted as saying, "What you can conceive and BELIEVE, you can achieve." That works both ways. Therapy can often re-open the doors to choice, frequently help us find our feet, and often move us to look to a bright future and to hear the music of everyday living. Services Provided Our services include a thorough evaluation which will include an initial diagnostic impression. Our office will provide you with patient education and our reccomendations for additions to your current treatment plan, and may serve as a complement to the current treatment team. We are a multidisiplinary team and utilize multiple modalities for patient care including Tele-Medicine. Face to Face Services Depending on your location in Alaska, your initial appointment may be a face to face appointment with one of our providers.

I am dedicated to helping people overcome personal challenges, establish healthy balance and achieve lasting change through mindfulness-based approaches. These practices are very helpful for clients faced with issues such as anxiety, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress symptoms, depression, relationship/family issues, stress-related physical problems and life transitions. I have provided counseling services for over 35 years to children, teens, and adults and customize therapy to meet your specific needs and goals. To that end I have trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques, in the belief that no one size fits all.

What a mystifying time to be a human navigating this strange world. And how commendable, then, that you're seeking assistance here. My scope of practice includes addressing and processing distress, depression, anxiety, and other issues impacting my clients' daily functioning. I also assist clients facing critical stage of life transitions, including terminal illness, grief, and loss. Additionally, I pursue ongoing trainings so that I can continue accompanying clients exploring a variety of relationship issues and conflicts - whether in their marriages, parenting efforts, or the full range of relational dynamics and daily challenges.

I try to meet clients where there are at developmentally. We build on your strengths towards a better quality of life. I work well with children, adolescents, and their families; especially teenagers. Many of the young people I have seen have had behavioral difficulties. I also see adults with both short and long term difficulties such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addictive behaviors.

Embarking on my counseling journey, I began as a youth coach at Christian schools and in Awana’s leadership, fueled by a passion for serving young individuals. Progressing from a direct support person to a case manager and mental health specialist, I concurrently pursued my Master’s degree in clinical counseling. Armed with certifications in EMDR and ABA, I further honed my expertise through advanced courses in play therapy, crisis intervention, substance-abuse group therapy, and child and adolescent with family counseling. A committed family man, I find joy in spending cherished moments with my wife and kids.

Howard Chaitoff came to Alaska in 1987 and served as a medical service specialist at Eielson AFB. He then went on to pursue a Bachelors of Sciences degree from the Universtiy of Alaska Anchorage, graduating in 1991. He was awarded a Wellcome pharmaceutical grant in 1996 to study clinical cytogenetics at the Salisbury Genetics Laboratory in England. Then completed his post graduate degree in Secondary Sciences Education at Southampton University in England. Finally, Howard attended the University of Washington, MEDEX physician assistant program in 2006.

I am a therapist with more than 15 years of experience in the mental health field including residential, hospital and outpatient.

I have over 25 years of experience working with clients who are seeking something better for themselves. I prefer to use strengths to address the concerns that clients would like to work on together. I also believe that the way people think about situations impacts their behavior and rethinking those situations can lead to positive changes.
