My ideal client is one who is ready for change. I don't know many people who change when they are comfortable. By the time an individual or couple walks into a counseling office, they are usually in enough discomfort with their current reality that they are ready to work towards something new. I want to join with clients to identify what is not working, the source of their discomfort, and help set them up for and walk with them into successful healing, change and overall health.

You keep replaying the incident in your mind even when you don’t want to. The event has left you feeling on edge and afraid. You can’t relax and it’s impossible to be in public without looking over your shoulder. You can’t stay anywhere too long, or you fear you will come apart. People around you don’t understand and tell you to get over it. You wish you could simply get over it, but this event has taken over your life. You don’t recognize yourself, and you don’t think you can ever be the person you were before. You can’t sleep or focus. You believe the incident was your fault and think of things you should have done differently.

Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed, constantly anxious, or like you no longer want to get out of bed in the morning. Maybe you are miserable, apathetic or afraid all the time and you don't know how to regain balance. Maybe you've gone through a lot of changes recently, or you've lost a lot of close relationships. Traumatic events or issues with family, relationship and work can lead to depression, chronic anxiety, grief and PTSD. Resultantly, the quality of life deteriorates. Psychotherapy (counseling) enables you to explore your cognitive and emotional sides. It involves connecting your past wounds and present emotions. Psychodynamic therapy enables you to go beyond managing your present emotions and go to the source.
