Life gets really hard these days. There is so much stress and there are so many expectations to deal with. From having perfect children to being the perfect parent, some days it is all too much. And it feels impossible. The weight of our own guilt, anxiety, or depression that stems from not feeling adequate, or from family difficulties can leave us drained. As a parent and an LMHC with years of experience working with children and adults with any number of behavioral or mental health needs, believe me, I get it. I can help you thrive.

My expertise is in helping you get underneath the familiar loops of anxiety and depression using powerful somatic modalities (Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, AEDP, EFT) that go beyond traditional talk therapy.
Many of us turn to therapy because we feel lost, frustrated, or exhausted. Maybe we’re tired of swimming against the currents of anxiety or depression, but can’t find our way out. We may put on a happy face, while pushing aside painful emotions. Or we yearn for more meaningful connections, but past wounds or the residue of trauma make that feel out of reach. Even when we understand our negative patterns, undoing them can feel intimidating. I believe we all have the capacity to heal and grow. That’s why I’ve dedicated myself to helping individuals and couples who are ready to do the deep, transformative work towards change.

I combine my background as a licensed clinical social worker with psychodynamic psychotherapy, Buddhist philosophy, body psychotherapy Core Energetics, Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, CBT and AEDP work (which works with undoing aloneness).
The decision to start therapy is personal and courageous and not always easy. Everyone goes through times when they feel more stressed out, angry, anxious or depressed. It is easier for people to explore their lives and make transformations when they are working with a therapist that they feel comfortable with and trust. My intention is to help you identify the goals you want to work on and to help you understand what is getting in the way of achieving them. I ultimately want to give you a new perspective and look at your underlying belief systems and the repetitive patterns that have been keeping you stuck.

My work integrates Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy ( AEDP) with psychodynamic, attachment-based and trauma-centered approaches.
We all have the capacity to heal. With the right safety and support, we can come home to ourselves, allow difficult emotions to be released, and re-author old stories to create new meaning in our lives. I use experiential therapy to help you move through barriers so you can arrive into your body with compassion and connection. From this place, we can explore your relationship to self and others, come to understand patterns that create stuckness, and practice new skills so you can embody insights, change and self-belonging.

As an EMDR Consultant, I use EMDR, AEDP, Compassion-Based Mindfulness, and Somatic Therapy to help people breakthrough old patterns and create healing and change in their lives.
I work with goal-oriented women who want to succeed in breaking through old patterns of trauma, pain, and anxiety and who want to achieve their impossible. People often come to me when they have been talk therapy and feel frustrated by lack of change. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, or chronic and/or acute trauma, I applaud you for reaching out for help. The first step is believing that things can be different. I believe in the innate wholeness of all human beings and am inspired daily by the resilience and fortitude of the people whom I see. My mantra is: Hope. Belief. Change. Growth.

I am known to be empathic, insightful, caring and skilled, and have a broad range of training in relational, cognitive-behavioral, and mind-body approaches to therapy (EMDR, AEDP, psychomotor and hypnosis) that I draw upon as needed to support you in your healing process.
Psychotherapy that is tailored to your needs can help you open the door to many new possibilities. In this process we work together to help you get in touch with what you really want for yourself, gain insight into whatever has been getting in the way of reaching those goals, and rediscover the power that you have within you to move toward a life that is more personally and professionally rewarding. The process is respectful of who you are, mindful of your potential, and responsive to what you really need for personal growth at this time.

I draw from a variety of principles including AEDP, Attachment theory, psychodynamic theory, mindfulness, inner child work, and narrative therapy.
As we make our way through life, we are often forced to give up parts of ourselves in order to survive and belong. Many of our defenses, developed early on, may hinder our wholeness as adults while contributing to a sense of “stuckness.” I believe that we are innately wired for healing, and that provided with a safe environment our healing capacity is activated as we listen to, feel, and process our core emotions. Emotions carry our stories, and when not processed properly can lodge themselves in our bodies and manifest in various unhealthy ways.

Hello and welcome to my page! I believe that all individuals are capable of healing and growth with the help of an understanding, compassionate, and supportive therapist. Therapy is a vulnerable process and I strive to provide an environment where my client feels safe. I also believe that insight alone is not enough for change to occur and therefore I bring experiential work into the room, often engaging the body and somatic experience in our work. My approach to therapy integrates Attachment Theory, Psychodynamic Theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy ( AEDP).

I have completed post-graduate trainings in EMDR, AEDP, IFS, Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), Polyvagal Theory, the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), and Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders.
As humans we crave connection: to be known and deeply loved. But sometimes we may feel like there are parts of us that aren't acceptable or loveable. We may learn to be sensitive to other people's signals, discerning what we need to do so that they'll love and accept us. Sometimes, we get so good at it that we don't even realize we’re doing it anymore. In the safety of therapy, I invite you to explore your full human experience. We will shine a light on the hidden places that you may not have been allowed to explore. We’ll acknowledge the barriers you have faced along the way while empowering you to move toward your fullest self.

The specific modalities I use include: AEDP (accelerated emotional dynamic psychotherapy), because emotions really are superpowers; ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) to help accept the reality of ourselves and surroundings while also committing to change and growth; narrative therapy, to explore the stories we are and want to be; Existential and REBT.
I'm a therapist because I love working with people and embrace humanity in all its glorious, messy, wondrous complexity. I'm here to work with your needs as a client, to help you understand yourself better and to empower you on your journey of growth and healing. I practice using an integrative approach, which means: I see you as a person shaped by your past, present and thoughts about the future; by your innate personality, environment and upbringing; by your social relationships, likes, dislikes and relationship with yourself.

AEDP Therapists

Who is AEDP therapy for?

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is for adults who have experienced emotional pain in the past that, because it has not been adequately addressed and processed, interferes with current functioning. The problems might manifest in a number of different ways, from excessive anger to relationship difficulties to PTSD to eating disorders, poor self-esteem, and depression. They may also be accompanied by physiological symptoms. AEDP helps people accept and digest challenging emotional experiences.

Why do people need AEDP?

People need AEDP as a way to manage distressing emotions—including anger, shame, and guilt—that in some way hamper the ability to function and form satisfying relationships in the present. The therapist-client relationship is believed to provide corrective emotional and relational experiences that facilitate positive changes in brain function, forge pathways for processing traumatic experiences, and allow resolution of emotional pain.

What happens in AEDP therapy?

Once individuals have established a strong bond with the AEDP therapist and the therapist has established a safe and secure environment, clients are encouraged to explore their most painful emotional experiences. They may be asked to pay attention to disquieting body sensations as well as to psychological discomfort. Individuals learn how to process emotions, rather than avoid them. Through the strength of the therapist-client bond, each session is intended to provide a powerful positive experience for individuals, enabling growth.

What problems does AEDP treat?

AEDP is intended to treat the unprocessed emotional pain caused by earlier distressing experiences, which commonly includes behavioral avoidance of current situations and experiences for fear that they will reactivate painful feelings. Emotional pain and avoidant behavior play a role in a wide array of mental health conditions, which is why AEDP is applied to the treatment of a range of disorders including depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and eating disorders.
