I believe that every person has the capacity to be happy. When I work with individuals and couples, I get to know each unique person and circumstance. My treatment approach considers the biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of each person. The non-judgmental relationship of trust and acceptance creates an environment that is conducive to the self-discovery that is necessary for achieving and maintaining optimal mental health and happiness. Helping others is my life's purpose, and I am honored to join people on their quest for a happy life.

I love working with people. I tend to be a really good listener, love to brainstorm, and am somewhat directive. I am very practical and real. I enjoy very much hearing and working to understand situations and patterns in a person's life, where are they repeating themselves, and how many ways are there to break up patterns that are not serving us. I am keen to see habits and places that shut us down, and like to work on and practice how that may shift, with much compassion on how scary that can be. I appreciate the vulnerability it takes to come in and share intimate and hard details about ourselves.

I specialize in Relationship Therapy (couples, pairs) & High-Powered Therapy for individuals. <> Relationships: we feel frustration, anger & loneliness when we're not understood, seen or respected. We wonder - How can I love someone & also hate them? Why do I want to push them away & also wish they'd be closer? How can I feel lonely in a partnership I'm not alone in? <> Individuals: I work with strong, high-achieving "Type A"s who find it hard to slow down, to "just be" content, who need someone who understands your pace, how your mind works, how it feels like you're 15 steps ahead when everyone else is still figuring out step 1.

Adlerian Therapists

How does Adlerian psychology work?

In the framework of Adlerian therapy, people are motivated by a sense of belonging and community, which drives them to surmount feelings of inferiority so as to contribute to their society; fulfilling these desires can help people flourish. Adlerian therapy proceeds in four stages—engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation—in an overall effort to understand the client’s past and to achieve their present-day humanistic goals.

Is Adlerian therapy humanistic?

Yes, Adlerian psychology is humanistic; it focuses on the whole person, emphasizes their strengths rather than just their symptoms, and centers them in determining how they can grow and flourish. This school of thought informed the work of Abraham Maslow, who went on to develop humanistic psychology.

How long does Adlerian therapy take?

Adlerian therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented form of therapy that takes around 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Of course, some people may be in therapy for a shorter or longer time frame; length depends on the individual and the problem or condition they wish to treat. Clients can ask their therapist about the timeline for treatment before they begin and check in periodically to ensure that they’re on the same page in terms of progress.

Is Adlerian therapy evidence based?

There is not as much evidence to support the effectiveness of Adlerian therapy as there is for other types of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. But Adlerian therapy may be the right therapy for some people—whether they’re seeking to treat mental disorders or achieve self-growth—especially those looking for a holistic approach that emphasizes relationships, community, self-worth, and purpose.
