You are struggling in your relationship. You used to feel like things were easy with your partner, but now things are distant and frustrating and you don’t know how to fix it. You just don’t know how to communicate how you feel or how to reassure them. You wish you could just fix it so you can feel loved again and have the physical intimacy you miss. You wonder if things are too far gone and you might lose them. You notice the problems are draining your motivation and confidence, effecting other areas of life including work and other interests.

Book with me now by clicking on my website! I have always used a more integrative approach in order to fit the needs of my clients. At times therapy can be difficult, and it’s my job to help make the experience of introspection, self-discovery, and healing feel as comfortable as possible. I enjoy spending time getting to know you and the important people or things in your life, how you experience joy, and how you manage your troubles. I take a non-judgmental, holistic view of a person to better understand how different aspects of life interact and may contribute to stress.

Reflecting on life experiences and wanting to cultivate change from within, can be a scary process. I feel honored to help create safety and support around this process for others, and have walked with individuals on these personal journeys of self-discovery and change for the past 20 years. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Board Certified Art Therapist, and believe that everyone has their own journey, as I tailor my sessions specifically to the individual and their goals of healing.

We are dynamic beings living in an ever-changing world that forces us to learn and grow along with it, and at times we might feel overwhelmed and uncertain of which action to take or which way to best approach a new development in our lives. My goal as a mental health counselor is to help you work through the process of growth and change so that you can live the best life possible. My goal is to help each client work to accomplish their goals, whether it’s trying to figure out if it’s time to change jobs, working through family or relationship issues, addiction, or just looking to decompress from the stresses of day-to-day life.

Are you in recovery but feeling stuck? Are you tired of running from your past? Are you unable to experience vulnerability in a relationship without feeling panic or acting out in destructive ways? You know in your heart that there are issues you have to resolve to have the life you want. You need more than self-help books and 12 step meetings. You didn't begin your journey in recovery to end up feeling stuck. I understand. I am a psychotherapist who is also in recovery. I experienced the same and I am able to help you.

Adlerian Therapists

How does Adlerian psychology work?

In the framework of Adlerian therapy, people are motivated by a sense of belonging and community, which drives them to surmount feelings of inferiority so as to contribute to their society; fulfilling these desires can help people flourish. Adlerian therapy proceeds in four stages—engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation—in an overall effort to understand the client’s past and to achieve their present-day humanistic goals.

Is Adlerian therapy humanistic?

Yes, Adlerian psychology is humanistic; it focuses on the whole person, emphasizes their strengths rather than just their symptoms, and centers them in determining how they can grow and flourish. This school of thought informed the work of Abraham Maslow, who went on to develop humanistic psychology.

How long does Adlerian therapy take?

Adlerian therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented form of therapy that takes around 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Of course, some people may be in therapy for a shorter or longer time frame; length depends on the individual and the problem or condition they wish to treat. Clients can ask their therapist about the timeline for treatment before they begin and check in periodically to ensure that they’re on the same page in terms of progress.

Is Adlerian therapy evidence based?

There is not as much evidence to support the effectiveness of Adlerian therapy as there is for other types of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. But Adlerian therapy may be the right therapy for some people—whether they’re seeking to treat mental disorders or achieve self-growth—especially those looking for a holistic approach that emphasizes relationships, community, self-worth, and purpose.
