Hello, my name is Benjamin Menard. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker beginning my private practice in Spokane. My specialty is non-directive play therapy for children ages 4 – 12. I use this client-centered approach with the theory that children use their play to communicate more effectively than language and typical talk therapy. I see play therapy as a way to meet children where they are and learn from them about their world.
My therapeutic experience includes: crisis services, grief and bereavement, behavioral issues, trauma, sexual behaviors, severe abuse and neglect, suicidal and homicidal ideation as well as criminal and substance abuse cases. I have a degree in Elementary Education as well as experience working in in clinical settings and residential treatment facilities.
