Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just going through the motions without much joy? Have you been trying to help yourself, but only finding superficial relief? Are you ready to delve into what’s really bothering you - to name it clearly, understand why it’s happening, and work toward lasting change? Often when we examine symptoms or responses that are causing us distress, we discover that they actually serve important functions. From this perspective, we can develop a kinder, more balanced internal dialogue and focus less on protecting ourselves from pain and more on living a full, authentic life.

I utilize an eclectic approach, meaning various theoretical framework models depending on the presentation of the patient's concerns and method of coping as it relates to depression, substance use, and sexual orientation concerns. I typically work with adults ages 18 to 65 who struggle with depression, substance use, and concerns regarding sexual orientation.

I provide culturally competent practice to a diverse patient population, drawing on significant cross cultural and LGBTQ experience.
Unresolved childhood issues provide recurring challenges in adulthood and may show up in the form of sadness, worry, relationship problems, substance abuse or poor self-esteem. For adults abused as children, complex trauma may leave one with panic, obsessive thoughts, self-harming behaviors, or mood disorders. Sometimes individuals are given many diagnoses and medications and end up in therapies that do not resolve their underlying issue. Dissociative processes go unrecognized in many therapies, resulting in treatment that may not resolve the underlying problem, leaving one symptomatic. In my professional experience most individuals change and grow through a successful therapeutic encounter.

I became a therapist after years of working in the performing arts in New York City. My work continues to be influenced by my trainings in dance and somatic modalities from that time. I describe my therapy style as warm, direct, and open, all housed within a creative sensibility. Folks I work with hold a variety of intersecting identities and bring a wide variety of concerns, stressors, and challenges into session. I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, parenting concerns and more.
