My greatest reward as a therapist is helping clients explore ways to make changes in their lives that will allow them to look forward to the future with hope. I believe that we all need someone to talk with who will listen and accept us as we are, without judgment. I provide clients with a safe place to explore how to create the life they want. I hold a Master's in Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I use a variety of approaches, depending on individual needs. I specialize in addictions, mood disorders, and career development issues.

I think therapeutic relationships work best when there is a foundation of emotional safety. Upon this foundation many things can be achieved, including understanding ourselves and others with greater depth and clarity, tolerating discomfort for growth, and allowing for our natural ability to heal. There are many good reasons to come to therapy, including distress that doesn't have a good explanation (which is what anxiety and depression often are), the loss of a loved one or important relationship, the wish to thrive more, or feeling unable to address life's problems. Seeking help takes guts and hope and it's no easy task.

My goal is to create a safe, warm, open (and sometimes humorous) environment where relational support through challenging times will be provided. While drawn toward Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I have piqued interests with integrating Mindfulness/Positive Psychology tenets along with discovering psychodynamic processes.

A life transition experience can be positive or negative, planned or unexpected. Some transitions happen without warning, and they may be quite dramatic, as in cases of accidents, death, divorce, job loss, or serious illness. Other life transitions come from positive experiences such as getting married, going away to college, starting a new job, moving to a new city. Even though events like these are usually planned and anticipated, they can be just as life-altering as the unexpected events. Whether positive or negative, life transitions cause us to leave behind the familiar and force us to adjust to new ways of living.

There are many reasons to seek out therapy. The ultimate purpose for considering therapy is often to resolve whatever is in the way of having a better life.
As an active, empathic and experienced psychotherapist, my goal is to assist individuals in overcoming the barriers that prevent them from experiencing, the relationships in their lives in a full and rich way. I work to understand each individual's unique struggle, while respecting personal history and cultural background.
Ultimately, I help individuals to see how past experiences and behavioral patterns may contribute to their current symptoms and difficulties.

By seeking outside support, you've already taken one of the hardest steps on the healing journey. It takes courage to turn inward, face our present struggles, and open ourselves up to change. Unprocessed pain can create feelings of stuckness and negative thought patterns that worsen self-esteem. Therapy can help you understand how you got to this point, and how to identify and reframe the belief-systems and habits that are no longer serving you. These shifts create room for growth and can restore a sense of empowerment and agency over one's life.
