Emily strives to invite individuals, couples, or families to come as they are, to feel safe, to bring the trauma, life stressors, anxiety and also life joys to a safe place. Emily understands that partaking in any therapy process can be challenging to start, and she commends you for taking the first steps to taking control over your life and mental health. Emily has eight years of working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in the mental health field. Emily believes it is important to provide trauma-informed practice and a person-centered holistic approach to her therapy sessions.

As your counselor, I am your partner in self-understanding and change. My role is to support and guide you toward an understanding of who you are and who you want to be. We work together as you determine the changes you would like to make, and create plans for making those changes real. The end goal is a closer alignment of your self-understanding, your lived experience, and your ideal self.

I believe in five distinct ideas: 1) every person is unique with their own perspectives and ideas, 2) we all struggle at some point, 3) as human beings, we all have within our power the ability to help others, 4) therapy is a powerful and useful tool, and 5) happiness is limitless. Whether I meet you in person or in an online session, the space becomes yours. It's about your wants, your needs, your struggle, your hopes, your dreams, your plan, and your vision of the future. My purpose in life is to help others achieve goals. My passion is doing so through therapy.

Picking a psychotherapist you trust can be difficult. People who are seeking help have been hurt. Often times, sought out help in the past and have been hurt as well. I see it being hard to live this life without sustaining some sort of injury. In this way, we can all use help. We are all different in how we interpret the world around us. Reasonably, your therapy (help) matches this belief, you are unique and how you'll be helped will also be unique. Having someone not attached to the events of your life can facilitate new meaning and in turn, new choices as to how to see life now, historic injuries and where you want to go next.

Hey there! I am so glad you found me. I care so deeply about humanity, relationships, love, and individuals (like you) having the freedom to be themselves. I support people in discovering their innate capacity for emotionally rich connection to themselves and others, and the courage to live into their autonomy, creativity, passion, and love. I work with survivors of fundamental, religious & spiritual cults, sexual assault & childhood developmental trauma.

As a experienced clinician, I recognize those that struggle with mental health and addiction are some of the most intelligent and artistic individuals. Often, those that experience anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts saw drugs and alcohol as a way to cope and calm their thoughts. I am here to walk you through the journey of hope to recovery, however that may look to you.

It takes courage to admit I need help. Many of us try to get through life's difficulties alone, which sometimes seems to make matters worse. I seek to create a collaborative environment, where the client(s) is the expert on their own life. We work together to create a safe, healthy, space where the presenting issues can be explored and worked through. Whether it is past, unresolved, trauma poking its head into daily living, a recent life change that is overwhelming, or a couple needing to figure out how to feel close and intimate again we will work together to find the best path forward.

Navigating the rivers of life can become rocky. Sometimes we need an objective person to help us through the rough rapids. I can work with you to develop new strategies for success, plot out new courses, and feel better in time. I do so by empowering you with confidence in a safe environment. I have over twenty years of experience working with issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, family, grief, and finding personal meaning. More specific to me, I have specialties working with spiritual issues. I have written two books on psychology and spirituality.

We have all experienced various levels of loss, harm or violation in our lives and this will have an effect on us. Are you experiencing disordered eating, unwanted sexual behavior, depression, anxiety, anger or turning to substances for relief? Often people feel a pain inside they are unable to understand or articulate. Perhaps you're frustrated and beginning to feel hopeless or helpless to change. Transformation and change is possible but it is a process, not an event. Research shows that finding the right "fit" in a therapist is one of the most important factors in having a transformative experience in therapy.

It is my belief that as humans, we are wired for connection and community. Adverse life experiences can bring us to a place of isolation and addiction. One of the greatest experiences as a therapist is watching others overcome and grow through adversity, along with the resilience it takes to do so. Maybe you feel stuck in your issues or feel unsure of the next steps.. My purpose as a therapist is to create space for you to build the life you want and a self acceptance that highlights your innate worth.
