I'm an individual and family therapist, and substance use disorder counselor. I work with people experiencing substance use issues leading to difficulty anywhere in their family system. My education and 12 years' experience makes me uniquely able to support teens and adults as they recognize and manage the impact of their substance use on their world. Apart from SUD issues, I also support parents navigating a variety of life transitions and conflicts with their teen children, individuals with difficulty managing moods (depression, anxiety, anger, etc.), teen and young adult identity development, and families/individuals dealing with grief and loss.

I am a licensed Clinical and School Psychologist who has over 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults. I received my PsyD in 1992 from the University of Denver and have worked with clients in school, community mental health, residential treatment, and private practice settings.

I am certified in EMDR and trained in IFS but use whatever skill or technique is most effective for each client.

My practice is rooted in the belief that we are all doing our best in this life; at the same time, we have experiences wherein our best efforts to reduce pain and misery--or to live the life we want--simply do not work. My approach to treating life's most difficult problems involves balancing the strong desire for change, with the acceptance that change is hard and often slow going. In my clinical work I utilize both sophisticated change strategies (cognitive behavior- and behavior therapy), along with a compassionate acceptance of reality as it is (mindfulness).
