I'm a staff psychologist at Mission Psychology, a private practice in San Antonio, TX. I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, or the aftereffects of trauma. My style fits well with people who have dealt with long term interpersonal stress, whether that be with parents, a relationship, job, or institution. I aim to build on your existing strengths (and help you identify those) to live a life where you can feel whole, connected to the people around you, and steady for when the next storm hits. I also work with a LMFT-A who does $45 flat rate sessions who has weekend/evening availability.

Life is much more complicated than most of us expected! As a Christian, I share the same dilemmas as you. We are all looking for answers in a world full of obstacles. Counseling should be practical, so I meet my clients exactly where they are in their lives, but armed with my Christian perspective and 30+ years of experience working with adults and children. Counseling with me is warm and practical, and because I have enjoyed raising three children of my own, counseling is often fun. After all, as we Christians understand, love is at the core of most solutions.

My passion in therapy stems from believing that everyone has a unique life story to bring into counseling and they need a place to safely explore that story. I am an empathic and understanding counselor who works motivationally with my clients to give them the opportunity to develop greater awareness of this story and how they understand themselves and their challenges. My desire is to collaboratively work with my clients using various methods and expressive techniques so that through therapy clients reconnect with themselves, their strengths, and develop new ways of being and connecting with others.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I attended the University of Texas San Antonio, where I earned my Master of Social Work degree. I have been in the helping profession for over 10 years, and got my start in working with children in residential care through the foster care system. Throughout my career I have been an advocate and mentor for children, teens, and young adults experiencing social and emotional turmoil. ​

I am licensed in Texas and have 18 years of professional work experience as an individual, marriage, child/adolescent therapist. There is no greater joy than helping people and I love my profession. I have experience with stress and anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse, grief, life changes, parenting issues, anger management, and an abundance of relationship issues. I am client-centered and your goals are my goals. I have vast knowledge in helping people in many different circumstances. Dr. Laurel Bluntzer provides psychotherapy to women with complex trauma, depression, and anxiety. Together, we uncover and heal deep core beliefs such as never being "enough," feeling "unloveable" or "bad." We compassionately explore shame and vulnerability and the protective habits we have that may get in our way. Using EMDR and Mindfulness techniques, Dr. Bluntzer has worked with hundreds of women to help them learn a new way of seeing themselves, their relationships, and the world.
