My ideal client is someone who did grow up sharing their feelings without consequence or knowing that its ok to not be ok. Including those that did not know about or have access to therapy. If sharing how you feel or setting boundaries is a new an unusual feeling, I want to help you work through those emotions and build healthier relationships moving forward. I am here to dispel the myth minorities may have with therapy and mental illness. Let's start a new narrative for you and your life.

My therapeutic approach integrates various modalities, including narrative therapy, person-centered therapy, and mindfulness-based therapy.
In our therapeutic space, I aim to create a warm and down-to-earth environment that prioritizes compassion, acceptance, openness, clarity, and authenticity. I recognize the immense courage it takes to be completely vulnerable with another individual. I strive to comprehend the intricacies of your unique self, as well as the profound influence of your cultures and systems on your identity and experiences. In this way, I am fully committed to honoring and respecting every part of who you are – because nothing is too small and everything you share with me is valuable.

I use an integrative therapeutic approach which consists of Existential Humanistic therapy, Person-Centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Emotion Focused therapy, Play therapy, Motivational Interviewing, as well as Mindfulness and Narrative therapy techniques.
We live in a challenging and quite complicated world. As we struggle with our hardships, it is important to remember that we don’t have to go through it alone. Therapy is a big commitment, but it can also be a space where you have the opportunity to heal, grow, and embrace your authentic self. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who is extremely passionate about working with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, emotion regulation, divorce, grief, life transitions, relationship issues, self-esteem, stress, addiction, suicidal ideation, ADHD, as well as school or work-related issues.

Some of my favorites are Gottman, Narrative, and Collaborative theories of therapy.
Everyone has their own unique story and I will work to understand yours. I work with a variety of people including individuals, couples and families from a wide variety of professions, family situations, race, age and religious affiliations. Some of the issues I have experience and success working with are sexual dysfunction, infidelity, communication issues, trauma, and mental disorders. My approach looks at the entire person and the “system” in and surrounding them. I examine elements of people’s lives like their physical well-being, emotional coping and conflict resolution skills.

The pressure of being a woman in today’s society can be challenging, even for the most successful. The idea that we have to “do it all” in order to “have it all” can be overwhelming. Each stage of a woman's life can present a different set of challenges. Are you struggling as you are entering into adulthood or find retirement to be a challenge? Somewhere in-between? Do you feel guilty because you chose a career over a family, or a family over a career? Maybe you chose both but feel you are not living up to your or everyone else's expectations? Do you feel like part of your life is missing but you are not sure how to find it?

Often clients think, "We love each other, we just fight too much." "I need help learning how to communicate my emotions." "I want this relationship to work, I just don't know how to get over the affair. I want to trust again." Is this you? Are these words you've said? Are you living in fear and pain, and desperate to find your way back to your partner and to a relationship that feels healthy and fulfilling?

Have you ever felt that life has become too much to bear? That the worries of the world are compounded by your own independent search for emotional soothing and validation? As a human being experiencing this crazy ride we call life, I say YES! I don't know who wouldn't be chomping at the bit for some professional guidance. I found mine, and with my education as a graduate student at the University of Houston, it has become my mission to share that path towards a calmer, emotionally strengthened life with you.

Are you overthinking instead of enjoying your life? Do you often feel misunderstood or disconnected from friends or loved ones? Does advice from others seem unhelpful or useless? Sometimes we notice we have become too hard on ourselves or others. We may notice an increasing sense of lonliness and begin to lose of sight of what is truly important. Do you ever wish you could just sit down with someone and sort it all out?

Transitioning from what we’ve known our whole life to a new beginning (or even just a new depth) is difficult. It means giving up beliefs or ways of living that didn’t serve us. And when we give up what we’ve known our whole life, it’s hard to envision a new way forward. Sometimes before we can make big changes, we have to understand the past. I believe our bodies hold our stories of struggle and when we don’t fully process what's within us, we can get stuck in our transitions. We will work together to shine a light on life experiences and traumas, and dusty old habits and beliefs that may be holding you back.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
