I work with children, teens, and families. I also work with couples and individual adults. I use a family systems theoretical approach. I do play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and brief solution focused therapy. Outside of my private practice, I have been a school counselor, as well as, develop and lead social skills groups for kids.

As your therapist, it is my role to assist you in achieving your goals. Whether you are in a challenging relationship with a spouse, partner, or in general, understanding yourself and relationship patterns can be key to making changes. I believe that therapy works best when it is a collaborative effort with therapist and client working together. While my approach is eclectic, recognizing that there is not a 'one size fits all' approach to counseling, I do work primarily from a Psychodynamic and Interpersonal perspective. There is more to counseling than a particular theoretical orientation. Providing a safe, supportive environment and the ability to sense what a person needs at a particular time are important therapeutic skills.

TEENAGERS ARE CRAZY! Well at least it seems like it for a few years. Raising a teenager can be a roller coaster ride, exciting and a little scary. Typically teens experience an enormous amount physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth during these years. Providing teens with the opportunity to take part in their own counseling allows them to further develop skills which promote independence. The Prevention Center, LLC will help your child improve their overall functioning at home, school, within the family, and with peers/social environment. We provide adolescent counseling to children ages 12- 18.

My primary approach to therapy is a cognitive-behavioral orientation but I also maintain a spiritual aspect to my therapy. I deal with most psychotherapeutic issues, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship issues, bereavement, trauma, sleep-related issues and stress. I work with adults. My former life experience as a teacher, school crisis counselor and mother has aided in my understanding of the challenges my clients face. Most of my clients come from personal referrals but I generally can accept new clients with flexible schedules.
